Next to Mono Cliffs Provincial Park

This is a very private little slice of heaven that I've been pleased to steward for over 25 years. If you love the sound of frogs singing, and bullfrogs plucking their banjo strings, red-winged blackbirds trilling, you will love it here. The property is literally right across the road from the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park which boasts amazing trails, views and features the Niagara Escarpment. The 4-acre pond/wetland is designated 'Provincially Significant' by the Ministry of Natural Resources and is an important part of the Nottawasaga Watershed. This area is renowned for its terrain - the fields are rolling and the views are quite special. You will enjoy a private firepit and private overlook at the pond with hammock. The site isn't visible from the road. Our house is visible from the site but far enough away as to not disturb one another. We have a newly added outhouse with lighting that will make your stay comfortable.

Welcome to Laurenwood Farm! New for 2024: Due to health reasons the farm is fallow this season. It is still a quiet, peaceful escape to the country and you can enjoy all of the amenities but there will be no veggie boxes this season and there are fewer animals to visit. We do have some items available such as honey and syrup. The farm is a 100-acre working livestock and organic mixed produce farm with picturesque views, miles of wooded trails, and a beautiful little fish pond. Fresh organic veggies and farm-fresh eggs are available seasonally. Guests are welcome to wander the trails, check out the pond and gardens, and have a guided tour to experience meeting the animals. Nearby are several conservation areas and access to the Bruce Trail. Walking, biking or horseback riding is very pleasant on the quiet country roads around. There are many local fairs and festivals in the surrounding villages, such as the Beeton Honey Festival and Tottenham Bluegrass Festival. We have three different listings, a cottage, a barn loft, and a tent/RV site. We look forward to hosting you!

We are a small hobby farm set within a mature forest setting. There are two, newly built tiny home bunkies that are situated in private areas of our property, yet close enough to our main house for security, Each bunkie has a modern outhouse with composting toilets and non potable water for washing Guests will have the opportunity to commune with nature as we have a multitude of bird species and there is always good possibilities of wildlife viewing, as guests stroll down the nature trails. There are plenty of very cool areas along the trail where guests are able to participate in forest bathing/meditation or can just relax and listen to the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees. We have a couple of very gentle horses on our farm, that if anyone wishes, can schedule a time meet them and do some therapy grooming. There is also a small flock of egg laying hens that are quite social. We have a small on site store, which has some beautiful wood crafts that are created in our woodworking shop. Live-edge wood tables/charcuterie boards and other beautiful pieces as well as a large display of gorgeous healing crystals and metaphysical items are available for purchase if that's your interest. We are less than a 10 minute drive to Bobcaygeon, where you can find the world famous Kawartha Dairy, scrumptious restaurants, specialty clothing boutiques, grocery stores and pharmacies. Sturgeon Lake is the predominate lake with fabulous fishing/boating/ swimming. A 20 minute drive will get you to Fenelon Falls, Buckhorn or Kinmount where you will find the famous Kinmount Movie Theater that have the latest movies available. Camping in Sibbald Point Provincial Park, ON guide

Overview

About

Set on the south shores of Lake Simcoe, this popular park features a big crescent of sand and warm, shallow waters. Swimming and sunbathing are obvious choices, and some visitors never venture beyond the shore. But you’ll be rewarded if you do. Get out on the water, paddling a canoe or kayak, or fishing for jumbo perch, northern pike, lake trout, and pickerel. Lace up your hiking boots—or even a good pair of shoes—to make the loop on the Maidenhair Fern Trail or take a walk into Sibbald family history using a route that includes the 1836 family estate, an 1877 Anglican church, and a cemetery where you’ll find the grave of one of Canada’s most famous authors (Stephen Leacock).

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for early risers: Sites along three different loops (#200-381, #402-440, and #501-586) are completely radio-free.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Start planning early, especially if visiting in summer. This is one of Toronto’s favourite escapes, and the millions in the metro area are less than an hour’s drive away.
  2. While first-come, first-served sites are a possibility in spring and fall, you’re unlikely to find anything available if you don’t book ahead. On summer holidays, including Canada Day and Labour Day, even parking spots are hard to come by.

When to go

Open year-round for day use, camping is only offered between May and October. The seasons in this part of Central Ontario are very distinct—winter can be frigid, and summers hot and steamy. The best swimming is in late July and early August when the lake has had enough time to absorb the warmth of summer, but before evenings turn chilly, a change that can take place as early as late August. But be warned—the beach can be extremely busy with day-use visitors on weekends. Autumn is far less buggy, and beautiful thanks to the deciduous forest bursting into a canvas of orange, red and gold.

Know before you go

  • The nearby town of Keswick has a number of handy conveniences, including laundry and more than one grocery store.
  • Ask about the discovery program, during which staff members lead nature walks, teach children’s crafts and games, and offer evening talks from guest speakers at the amphitheatre.
  • Aspiring fishers can get started with the park’s free Learn to Fish program, which includes two hours of hands-on instruction and experience.
