Our son loved playing in the forest. There were some fun slack lines nearby. The tree house was also a hit. It was a great getaway. Fresh air and a fire. The hosts are great!

Weekend Trip to Fan Palm Farm

We had a great time on Andre’s land :). We car camped in my Forester, perfect little spot to spend the night near Butchart gardens! We were the only ones there, so had the place to ourselves, looks like there’s a few lovely sites. There’s a really cool goat and some chickens nearby. Lots of birds in the morning. Andre (and his dog) were great, very helpful, and kind. Thanks for the fun times!

2 nights at Mountainaire Campground and RV Park

Nice place, beautiful view of the night sky (if not, cloudy!), and we were isolated. There was a little bit of noise in the morning from dump trucks a few hundred meters away, but we didn't mind. Bring loonies for shower ($1/7 minutes) and washing was loonies plus quarters (I think it was 2.50 for a wash, but I didn't do any washing while there)

This is a lovely quiet little spot, close enough to Duncan, but far enough away to enjoy other activities in the area. Sarah is lovely and very personable.

Mark and his family are wonderful hosts! The campsite felt very private, there was a jug of water waiting for me in the picnic table, the outhouse was exceptionally clean, the tree house and surrounding property were nice added touches, AND their sweet little black cat kept me company. Plus, I purchased fire wood and was very pleasantly surprised when Mark and his son brought over a wheelbarrow stacked high full of wood, a large bin full of kindling and newspapers, and am ax and long lighter. Would definitely recommend!

This spot was tucked away on a quite road, and very close to town. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Rejeanne's site!

Loved tenting here, host was super reliable to contact, the campgrounds are well kept, and they even let us borrow a hatchet when we forgot ours. I would absolutely come back again.

Weekend Trip to Moon Gate Farms

We’ve stayed at Evonne & Darrell’s on a couple of occasions now and enjoyed our experience both times. They are wonderful and thoughtful hosts and their property is very beautiful and well maintained thanks to their hard work and dedication. The first time we camped and the second time we stayed in the little cabin. We loved both experiences and hope to come back again in the future.

We had a tough time getting there with the ferry and all, but once we got to the campsite and settled in, it was amazing. The site was pretty secluded. The people that were there were all really nice. The area was covered in snow which made it beautiful. My wife and I had a great time snow camping.

2 nights at Forest Sanctuary

I camped in many places, but I’ve never camped in a place quite like this! From the time that I met Christian, he was so welcoming and warm and took the extra time to show me the land he has so lovingly curated for people like me, looking for a sanctuary from everyday life. To say that he went above and beyond to make my experience a memorable one from the start is an understatement! This time of the year, I was the only person camping, but I felt so completely at home and surrounded by such amazing forest and land. The location is great, if you’re looking for wonderful places to eat in either direction, as well as being really close to water. Christian is also taking the time to put together a list of places to eat, things to go do, places to go hike, etc. I wish I could have stayed another day or so, but I will be back! My drive to get to the destination was 2000 miles and included a ferry, and I wouldn’t change it for a thing. It was such an adventure, I can’t wait to be back!

Our parents, Mark and Sarah, got behind the vision and are excited to be part of this project with us. We would describe our property as: home…and a really fun place to grow up! Our parents thought that wasn’t descriptive enough for Hipcamp so they’ve helped us describe it more. We live in a quiet neighbourhood in a forest that has been a source of peace, relaxation, and fun for us in our growing up years. We’ve noticed that people who visit here say they feel the same way. With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner. Amenities and service: A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!) We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need. To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.) Surroundings and local attractions: Our property is situated in a low traffic rural residential area within ¬ 3 km to Sandy Pool Regional Park (5 min) A family favourite! ¬ 10 km to the Cowichan Valley Museum (Duncan Totem Tour) (13 min) ¬ 14 km to the Pacific Northwest Raptor Center (15 min) ¬ 19 km to the Hand of Man Museum (20 min) ¬ 20 km to Lake Cowichan (16 min) for swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc Note: Lake Cowichan is also home to ‘The Tube Shack’ where you can rent tubes to float down the Cowichan River and catch the Tube Shack Bus back to your car. A large communal campfire is available. I have solar showers too.
