Welcome to Elk Island Getaway!

Elk Island Getaway is located 20 minutes east of Edmonton and 7 minutes from HWY 16 main entrance of Elk Island Park, Alberta. 

We are also right by Elk Island Park, in addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, it is a great place for all your hiking, picnicking, biking, canoeing and kayaking needs.

When you enter Elk Island National Park you will know immediately that you have entered an oasis of calm.  For years people have come to the picturesque park to escape the city life, explore the outdoors and connect with nature.

Come and experience the dark sky preserve in our area that features an amazing opportunity to star gaze and to view the Northern Lights.

We have 8 campsites available for tent, van, small motorhome, and small trailers.   

Some sites accommodate large trailers.

Our group site is sites 7 and 8 please inquire if interested in this option.

We offer firewood upon *availability* for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of Tamarack wood.  Please note that supply may be limited at times, as well as our availability, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability. 

Pets welcome on leash and owners are responsible for clean-up.

This is a camper-maintained campground.  

Please take your trash with you at the end of your stay.

Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled food. Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter. 

There is a toilet available for campers to use but no other amenities. 

Our sites offer picnic tables and firepits.

Avant Gardens

Avant Gardens offers 3 separately rented sites: one is a studio suite; one is a small rustic cabin; and the other is a tenting (or small RV/van) area nestled in the bush on 45 acres in rural Leduc County. The cabin and camping area share an outhouse. The property is 25 minutes south of the airport and 10 minutes from Coal Lake which offers fishing, boating and more. Group camping is welcome. Firewood is available for purchase.

Our property is surrounded by beautiful trees. The Puma is in the same yard as the cabin and can be booked together.

Bring your food and personal belongings and leave the rest to us! There is a shared kitchen, laundry, and bathroom available.

The property is a 25-minute drive to Edmonton. There are some short trails around the 20 acres to explore.  Far enough from neighbours to enjoy real seclusion.  Activities nearby include hiking, wildlife watching, off-roading, and biking.Campfires permitted, pets welcome.

Home on The Range Camping

Learn more about this land:Enjoy over 5 beautiful acres of grassy fields at Home on the Range Camping. Perfect for pitching a tent or parking your camper van or trailer. A wonderful family-friendly (including pets!) getaway close to Tofield and about a 35-minute drive to Ardrossan. Fires are permitted and we provide you with a fire pit, some firewood and a picnic table so you have a place to enjoy your meals together. We can also provide you with a jug of water if needed, just let us know!&nbsp;Spend your days relaxing in the provided hammock, or explore nearby Elk Island Park, Blackfoot-Waskahegan Park, or Strathcona Wilderness Center. There’s plenty of hiking, fishing, kayaking and biking to enjoy. We also have beautiful golf courses and delicious nearby restaurants, coffee shops and the incredible Ukrainian Village to visit during your stay.&nbsp;We have two sites for you to choose from, one in the field that is quite private, or choose the site closer to the path if you’re looking for a bit more privacy! Both sites can be accessed by a traditional car, no off-roading or 4-wheel drive vehicle is needed.
