Spectacular sunsets! Very hot - the "walk-in" sites are the least crowded - typically not full even if it says sold out. Theses sites are also close to the river so you can hear the water and even get cooled off!
I have to live in Owens Valley for well over 30 years this is one of the most pristine valleys in the world be careful driving up now Whitney it's one of the most wicked roads in the world especially if it is wet or icy there are many places to camp in this valley that are totally Free you can camp right on a lot of creeps just you your self and you you won't see another so you'll see lots of nature beautiful sunsets there's many springs up there in which to get wonderful water right out of the glaciers go up to Pinecreek above rovana some of the best fly fishing there is if you can fly fish there have to be a pro Gorgeous just gorgeous
Watch for rattlers! RV ok, but tent??? WE've seen rattle snakes there 3x
Great campground, very clean. Amazing views from every site. Only $5 per night. Can be very windy, we switched from our tall tent to our short one. Amazing night sky. Close to town.
The Alabama Hills/Lone Pine are a great location to view the Leonid Meteor Showers in mid November.
