Black Dog Farm is a quaint hobby farm nestled in the hills about a mile from the 250-acre Moncove Lake State Park that also boasts a 500-acre wildlife management area. We are a short drive to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest, the Greenbrier State Forest and Tuckahoe Lake. These locations combined with numerous other wildlife management areas nearby makes this a hunting and fishing paradise. Other outdoor activities include paddle-boating, kayaking, ATV/UTV riding, cycling, mountain-biking, hiking, bird-watching, wildlife viewing, golfing, disc golf, and more! We are in close proximity to the Greenbrier River and the Greenbrier River Trail.
Local attractions include the popular Cheese 'N More Store, Old Gap Mills Country Store, Dough Ball Bakery, Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory, and Paint Bank General Store and Swinging Bridge Restaurant. Gap Mills is a short distance from the towns of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Lewisburg, WV. White Sulphur Springs is home to the world famous Greenbrier Resort. In Lewisburg, you will find a charming, historic downtown area with many shops, galleries, and an abundance of dining choices. Also in Lewisburg you will find the State Fairgrounds (State Fair each August and Healing Appalachia music festival each September), Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center, antiquing, Carnegie Hall, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Lost World Caverns, and so much more! Black Dog Farm is the perfect getaway to unplug and recharge. We are far away from it all, yet close enough to find what you're looking for!Lou Lou's Cabin is a small cabin that comfortably sleeps two, but can sleep up to 4. It is furnished with a full sized bed, a fold-out futon, a cozy chair and ottoman, and two small tables. We provide linens and extra blankets for chilly nights. This is a PRIMATIVE cabin, meaning there is no power or water in the cabin. Booking can be updated and power provided via drop cord allowing for device charging, light, fan (provided), and/or space heater (provided). Please select this as an "extra" when completing your booking. There is a bathhouse on site with a toilet, shower, and sink. Towels and toiletries provided. The bathhouse is heated and does have a small refrigerator and coffee maker with coffee and fixin's provided. The bathhouse is not directly beside the cabin, it is a short walk through the yard (flashlight provided).
