The land is 200 acres of beautiful forest, wetlands, marshes and a bog. The property is located a 5-minute drive from the Golden Lake beach and 13 km from Foy Beach Provincial Park, two beautiful spots for swimming. The town of Killaloe, 4km away, provides a Farmers Market (9-2pm) on Saturdays from June to October, there is a café (Engine House) and a health food store (Grandma’s Pantry) in town, a grocery store and LCBO. It’s about 20-25 minutes to Barry’s Bay for other amenities, and just a bit further to Algonquin Park for a day trip. This is a beautiful Bunkie built in 2023 located on 200 acres near Golden Lake, ON. It’s an hour and 45-minute drive from Ottawa through Renfrew County; a landscape of lush forests, lakes, winding rivers, streams and wetlands. The Bunkie is perched upon a west facing rock outcrop overlooking a magnificent open Marsh. It has a perfect view of the sun as it sets over the horizon. This spot is ideal for bird lovers and other nature enthusiasts. When Spring peeper season is in full swing it is an incredible soundscape, as are the Sandhill cranes that trumpet and land in the marsh during their annual migration. American Bitterns have nested here, as well as many other bird species. There have been many white-tailed deer & beaver sightings and lots of evidence of moose (maybe you will be the first to spot one?) The ecosystem is diverse with different seasons bringing new plants & critters into the spotlight. The property is host to another big open marsh, and an alluring bog with a unique ecological community. The Bunkie sleeps 2 adults comfortably. Up to 4 with some manipulation of furniture & mattresses. There is plenty of space to pitch a tent outside. There is an option to have a camping cot delivered (for an additional fee), and extra mattresses under and behind the bed. To access the Marsh Bunkie there is a hiking trail, approximately a 10–15-minute hike from one of the parking options. Please note that the road is not maintained after a certain point, driving in to the trailhead is up to your discretion. There are other options for parking, be mindful that this will add time to the hike in. A yard-cart wagon is provided to transport your belongings from your vehicle. Backpacks are ideal as the wagon can tip on the rugged terrain. The idea is that you will only have to bring your bedding and clothes, and the food and drink you would like to consume. I am working to have many other little amenities included. A work in progress. What is provided currently: potable water, cooking fuel, propane for heat source (season dependent) S & P, cane sugar, a selection of herbal teas, cutlery, dishes, glasses, mugs, and other basic kitchen utensils as well as a water & food dish for a doggo. There is a camp kitchen that has 1 burner for boiling water, etc. and the option to have a cook fire. Fire Ban rules apply. Additional cooking sources can be provided upon request: a BBQ and/or a camp oven with two burners. This is an off-grid experience, but a portable power-station can be provided for an additional fee to charge cell phones, lights, and other electronics. There is an option for electric elements (indoor heating of water, etc.) The primary heat source in the Bunkie is a propane heater. The floor and the roof are insulated, but the walls are not. Currently offering 3 season rentals. There are additional wool blankets provided, but I ask that if you do bring pets, that you bring extra sheets & blankets to cover the furniture and refrain from using the wool blankets. The washroom facility is a 6X6 outhouse that has a composting toilet in it. There is a humanure compost bin located behind the outhouse. There will be a compost bag provided and sawdust to soak up any moisture from stool. Urination is encouraged outside.

Secluded Sunset Bunkie
We had an excellent time at Jessica’s bunkie. The property was beautiful and the bunkie was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Jessica was excellent and very quick with any communication and help with what we needed. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Wonderful stay at the marsh!
We came here for 2 nights and we loved everything about this site, would not hesitate to recommend other campers who are looking for a place to connect with nature and to disconnect. My daughter really had the time of her life exploring the nature that surrounds it. The bunkie itself is very well constructed, well decorated, clean, modern, equipped with everything that we needed to stay comfortably. The bathroom is great, clean and odourless! The location is excellent, very secluded, very private and beautiful. There is a very short walk to the car where a heavy duty wagon is provided, my daughter had fun walking the path while picking the wild blackberries. Such an incredible experience sleeping accompanied by cricket sounds, watching sunset, stargazing, bonfire, beautiful marsh, and many other things. Doggies are having so much fun being off leash the whole time. And Jessica is such a wonderful host, very prompt in communication and accommodating! Will definitely come back!

Paradise in nature!
This was a lovely bunkie located minutes from Golden Lake! Equipped with kitchen essentials and comfortable sleeping arrangements, this location hosts a fun glamping experience amongst acres of land. The cabin was extremely well kept, with cute and functional decor. Our dog had a blast, having the freedom of being offleash. The host was very welcoming and accommodating, sending clear instructions and pictures to help with our arrival, as well as a sweet gift of nature dog bug spray. Golden lake is less than 5 minutes away by car - making this a key location to take a day trip to the local beaches. Thanks Jess for the lifetime of memories at funkie bunkie!

Secluded and Quiet Cabin
Jessica's cabin is very cute and very secluded (you can only hear some animal sounds). You can drive up to the trailhead (~2 mins) and then walk to the cabin about 10 mins. There was a wagon to transport our stuff, which was very much appreciated (just be careful as it's very rocky in some parts and it may tip over). At the cabin you get a gorgeous sunset, which you can watch right from the bed (or even the toilet). The toilet is nice and new and just a few steps away from the cabin. There's also a picnic table just beside with net over it to keep the bugs away as well as a tarp above in case of rain (or you can take a short drive to Killaloe to the Engine House Cafe).
