Alpaca Magic Stud began in 1997 with just a couple of alpacas. Soon after we bought some llamas and began our Llama Magic Stud. We were one of the first Llama Studs in NSW and are the largest Llama Stud in NSW. We run more than 100 camelids (alpacas and llamas). Our breeding program focuses on breeding healthy and robust animals with strong bone, good conformation, with quality fleeces and (of most importance) good temperament. Alpaca Magic consists of 250 acres (100 hectares) of prime rural land set in picturesque rolling hills, providing a tranquil and relaxing get-away from the city’s everyday grind and bustle. Alpaca Magic is just 20 minutes North of Canberra, access and parking is easy. We run events specifically designed to help you meet our wonderful furry friends, (bookings are essential) see https://www.alpacamagic.com.au/events/ BBQ breakfasts meeting our donkeys alpacas, llamas taking llamas for a walk. There are various restaurants and wineries nearby.Alpaca Magic is an alpaca, llama, donkey and miniature galloway cattle stud, and a tourist destination. The campsite is located on our peaceful farm with its gently rolling hills and grassland, under the big blue skies and surrounded by the native birds we encourage to visit. This campsite is suitable for self sufficient campers who have their own toilet/shower amenities and water supply. We work on a leave-no-trace basis. Unfortunately due to animal safety (ours and yours) we are unable to welcome any pets or children aged 12 years or younger, but we promise you will love our alpacas and llamas! Alpaca Magic is located just 20 minutes from Canberra, Queanbeyan and Gunning, and only 5 minutes from the village of Sutton where you will find a fabulous bakery and coffee shop. There are many cold climate wineries nearby. We run a variety of livestock and fibre craft workshops and tours which can be booked through our website. From Conversations with Cows to Breakfast with the Alpacas & Llamas, Needle Felt workshops, Fleece Spinning workshops to our very popular Llama Experience (take a llama for a walk).

Alpaca Magic Camp
Camping with llamas
Overall we had a good time. Highlight was waking up to llamas at our front door on the final morning. They were more than happy to be hand fed our supply of carrots and gave great joy to our daughter as this was the experience she wanted. Unfortunately camping at this property seems to be a little bit of an afterthought. There is minimal flattish ground. Although it was clear we could pick our own site in the paddock, it was initially suggested to camp on the top of the hill near the water tank. We were warned that if we ventured into the grass there was no guarantee we wouldn’t encounter something (snakes). The grass all around the water tank was knee high. We spent the first night on the only small patch of flattish grass and ground we could see attempting to flatten a little more grass in front of the camp. The view was great but exposure to sun and wind was not. The next morning we were able to see how to get down through a rocky off road path to the flattish dirt and shade near where the llamas were hanging out. We moved camp and were so pleased we did. The second night was much more comfortable in the shade and out of the exposure on the hill. Still a great view and the peace and quiet was superb. The stargazing the second night was magical (too cloudy on night 1). We paid to walk with the llamas event which was a great experience. We walked the geldings whose paddock we were camping in and this made feeding them breakfast the next morning even more special.

Alpaca Magic Camp
Alpaca Magic- highly recommended
What a lovely experience, lots of space, and many animals- donkeys, alpacas and llamas! We were made to feel very welcome. Great place to stay if you are self contained and enjoy nature..

Alpaca Magic Camp
We camped in our swag at Alpaca Magic for two nights and had the most amazing stay. We were greeted by hundreds of llamas and alpacas in the paddock next door to our campsite. There were also mini donkeys and cows a short walk away who were keen for a pat! Glynda was very welcoming and we will definitely be back again soon. Tip: bring carrots with you - apparently the animals love them!!
