Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Located at 2nd Hand Ranch & Rescue, this tiny house in the timber was built to share the beauty of nature with folks that want to camp.... but not really camp. This 12x12 house is off grid with a cute outhouse nestled in the timber behind the wildlife rescue. Relax and unplug for the weekend and know 100% of the fee goes to the animal rescue. We bring your supplies up via Gator as you hike the trail up. PLEASE NOTE: NO RUNNING WATER/SHOWERSThis is a perfect get away to chill. Its a little 12x12 house with a queen sleeper sofa and 2 loft beds. It includes 5 gallons of water to washup, decks, a propane grill to cook, 1 bundle of firewood, and a duralog to start your fire. You can also invite others for tent camping at the site. We are 1 mile from the Hennepin Canal with it's 92 miles of towpath trails and only 5 miles from Hennepin Hopper Lake and the Wetlands Initiative waterfowl refuge. It is perfect for canoeing, kayaking, or just taking in the sunset. If needed, we have the path lit up at night to come down to our house, otherwise the magical house on the hill is all yours. PLEASE NOTE: NO RUNNING WATER/SHOWERS

Great family trip
With pets
We loved the tiny cabin, it was perfect for us with our two small kids and pup! Nancy had everything ready for our family and they had all the camping amenities already at the cabin. Nancy and Randy were great and they let us visit with all the animals!

Everything and more!
With pets
I cannot say enough amazing things about 2nd hand ranch! Everything and more that you could look for. I will say, the pictures do not do this place justice- it is beautiful, peaceful, welcoming, and so relaxing. Nancy and her team are just simply amazing humans who go above and beyond for their guests, and animals! Nancy was a Gem and Dana’s Retreat is simply amazing!

Total Privacy
Our host Nancy went out of her way to get us, the digitally illiterate baby boomers (who were lost and unable to understand google map features), to the retreat. It’s a beautiful hut and we were made comfortable during this October week by a cute, warm propane oven. Visiting the animals was a special treat: Nancy showed us around and we learned about the rescue animals, how they got there and their personality. It felt good to support such a wonderful place.

We can't wait to go back
Nancy was a fantastic host and does such great work with her animal rescue. This is a must stay if you're an animal lover and want to get away from it all. The cabin is stocked with everything you need! It's a magical hike through the woods to the cabin with fairy lights along the path. Absolutely gorgeous!

Felt the Love and Joyous Peace
Peaceful loving trip and night under the stars and a full moon. I couldn’t ask for a better night and a better host. Nancy and Randy were gracious in every way. Nancy gave a fun tour of 2nd Hand Ranch prior to leading me up to Dana’s Retreat. The story of this place makes it even more special. Book a trip, you’ll cherish the memory.
