My daughter asked if she could take her friends camping for her 17th birthday… a ‘parenting win’ so I had to say yes! Luckily, I found Whispering Gums on here and immediately decided it was perfect. We had a really lovely stay here. It’s very peaceful and full of greenery and birds. There were a few other respectful campers but there is so much space that we felt quite secluded in our spot - which we loved! Am confused by reviews saying they couldn’t find the water as it’s very easy - just look for where the land slopes down into the valley and there’s a gate you can walk through. We had a great time using the paddle boat. Highly highly recommend. Phone reception isn’t strong but that’s kinda the point!

We had such a great time staying at Miller’s farm! The facilities were excellent - well decked out kitchen and super clean toilet. We loved the chickens and will be back to meet the rest of the animals too! 10/10 ☺️

Wonderful stay! Very peaceful and Linda was lovely. Donkeys were wonderful and the dogs very cute. It was amazing to hear kookaburras and view of the ranges. Would definitely stay again.

This was a lovely spot! Nice and spacious site with some great add ins (table, bench etc.) . Tamara was lovely and we felt very welcome. Would highly recommend feeding the sheep, they are cute and friendly.

Weekend Trip to Tiny Castle at Tynecastle Park

Our time a Tynecastle Tiny House was a fantastic experience, and was enjoyed by myself, partner and dog! Susan's property is picturesque with rolling hills, lush greenery and the ability to walk all over (including to their cow paddocks) which was great for us and the dog. The tiny house itself is small but utilises the space really well, and the amenities are fantastic, and first time using a compost toilet which is great for how eco-friendly the whole tiny house is. Overall the Tiny House at Tynecastle Park was a wonderful experience for a good price, and Susan was a very engaging and lovely host. Would recommend for anyone who wants to get away from city/suburb living, appreciate a gorgeous view from their front decking, and walk around vast beautiful and natural landscapes.

Weekend Trip to Kiernan Park Equestrian Centre

We loved staying here. The farm is lovely and rustic, camp is next to a road but it’s no-through so traffic is very limited. Horses are beautiful and very well loved, we saw kangaroos and lots of rabbits and loved exploring the farm. Jenny was a great host and very patient with our kids when we did the meet the horses tour, and every time we saw her! A great base to visit the Yarra Valley and all the little towns around.

A very pleasant weekend at Kiernan Park. A working horse farm and everyone was really friendly. Enough space to spread out and make yourself at home. Lots of birds song in the morning and great to see the stars at night. Jenny was very proactive in her communication and checked in throughout the weekend to make sure we were alright. A lovely base to explore the Yarra Valley from.

We loved staying in a tent at Platypus. The site has private access to a lake with great access to explore the lake with the kayaks provided by the host. My son particularly liked that there were kids' kayaks for him to practice padding. The communication with the host Jana was easy and enjoyable.

Gunya Flat campsite is surrounded by large and beautiful trees and sounds of birds including kookaburra, curra wong, grey butcher bird, owls, and others. Huge area and plenty of space all around us to enjoy nature and escape civilization despite being only 1h15m drive out of Melbourne. The camp site was right next to a section of blackberry trees in late season and Jana generously let us roam freely to explore the farm and enjoy the berries. There’s heaps of areas to explore around the camp site including multiple berry farms, creek, and canoe boats. Established trees and wildlife throughout. I spotted signs of wombats, and glimpsed a deer. Heaps of kookaburras. We recommend you purchase delicious fresh picked berries straight from the source on your way out. You won’t believe how good they taste!

Weekend Trip to Fowkes Family Flower Farm

We loved camping at the flower farm. Such a great space for a number of families with lots to do and close by to town. The kids loved splashing in the spring, looking for kangaroos and spotting kookaburras. Tamara even popped into town to pick up our take away pizza for us! Great host!

Weekend Trip to Whispering Gums

Fabulous, private campsite run by lovely hosts. We were a group of 6 with a small camper van and a camping trailer - enough flat space for both vehicles (required levelling). Lovely shady area amongst the gum trees, with the convenience of a very tidy camping hut which includes table and chairs. We will definitely be back.

There are different campsite locations on the property, depending on if you would like isolation or convenience. We also offer excellent toilet and bathroom facilities which are now included with all bookings. Iron Brook Donkey Farm is located on rolling hills of mountain pasture, backing on to the Yarra State Forest. We also allow campfires only when fire restrictions aren't in place - which is often all summer. Children under 3 are free, but for insurance purposes, please mention them in the comments. Day visitors are $20 per person, which incudes a donkey patting session. This property has an overall capacity to ensure that our number of visitors remain low. This not only ensures that campers recieve the space and peace they look for in a campsite like this, but also so that we can ensure the bathrooms can be kept clean and not overloaded. This is also a part of our COVID safe plan. Due to this overall capacity it is important that you book for the number of people that you intend to have stay, as while we try to accomodate increases to booking numbers, they are not guaranteed unless booked. Opening during Protea season for pick your own flowers and sheep feeding. Made up of 15 acres of working land and 35 acres of bush land. We have a 2-acre orchard with seasonal fruit available to be picked. ( Feb - April) The farm has over 100 king protea bushes and many other varieties of protea. Seasonal pick your own flowers too. ( Aug - Jan) Backing onto the national park and walking tracks. Jehoshaphat Gully, Shelley Harris Track, Mt Jerusalem Track. Walking distance to Kinglake historic walk, Cookson Hill Track, Mt Everard Track, Bollygum Park. Visit Mason Falls Waterfall, 12-minute drive to Kinglake West. We have 2 dogs, 6 pet sheep and 4 lambs, 2 blue tongue lizards The farming area is completely fenced in, this is to keep the deer out, but you can venture out onto the property bush land with the correct map and navigation equipment. Our walk the neighboring farm (105 acres) Eagles, cockatoos, black cockatoos, kookaburras, magpies, rosellas, king parrots, Gang-gang cockatoo, honey eaters can be spotted most days and lyrebirds if you’re keen to go looking. Small playground with swings, slide, monkey bars and sandpit. Taxi service - The Graceful-Goat to get you around to the local eats and wineries. The Kinglake market is on the 4th Sunday of each month 10-2pm except December which is the Sunday before Christmas - twilight 2-7pm No market in January. The St. Andrews market is every Saturday, 9am to 1pm just 12 minutes down the mountain. Whittlesea market is on every Monday 9am - 1pm We manage 2 sites on our farm & 2 sites on the neighboring farm

(800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Explore all the Yarra Ranges has to offer including a short walk to Shiprock Falls. Grab a coffee or pizza in nearby Gembrook and checkout some farm produce from your hosts before you leave. We have added a composting toilet, a drinking water tank and a bush pole shelter with cold water kitchen sink, phone charger ports, lights and hot water to a private shower and a picnic table with seats under cover. We have an adjacent fire pit area with tree log seating. You can order firewood from us too and a Coleman gas cooker with gas bottle (see extras). Most of the materials are repurposed from another property or scavenged from our forest. We hope to see you soon.

In the event of fires in surrounding areas, it may be necessary to cancel a future booking and or evacuate the site at short notice, this will be reimbursed by Hipcamps. Campers will be notified in the event of total fire bans, this mean no outside fires.

Toolangi Springwater Forest Camp

The property, Springwater, is on six acres amongst the tall trees and has two ponds served by a natural spring. We only have one campsite available at the very rear beside the forest so you will have complete privacy. There is an area of thick native forest and a stand of the critically endangered bush, the Round-leaf Pomaderris, right near the camping area. There is an abundance of birdlife at the camping location, including kookaburras, fairy wrens, greater shrike thrushes, robins, bellbirds, wedge-tail eagles, magpies and owls (namely boobooks). We are within easy reach of Toolangi State Forest with many walks and trails, including the WirraWilla Rainforest Walk and the Kalatha Giant Mountain Ash tree walk. This area is also popular for 4 wheel driving and there are plenty of tracks in the nearby state forest if you have the correct gear, vehicle and an appreciation for the wilderness. Healesville, Yarra Glen and Kinglake are equal distance away (18-20 minute drives) with services, plenty of cafes, restaurants, wineries and shopping: Healesville: Coles, IGA, Aldi Yarra Glen: IGA Kinglake: Foodworks Relax around the fire in the evenings (out of the fire danger season) and enjoy some great star gazing. Sorry, no pets. There is a toilet block onsite with a camp toilet but you can bring your own camping toilet if you desire. Please leave our beautiful spot as you found it, take your rubbish with you and respect the natural environment :)
