Only 37 kilometers from Geelong, Anglesea, a popular seaside community and family holiday destination boasts a lovely surf beach that's back by striking, orange-hued cliffs. Amenities, from supermarkets to cafes, are plentiful.  Anglesea is known for its kangaroo mobs. To see them, get a ‘hoppin to the local golf course (tours offered). Aireys inlet is a unique tiny town with so much to do. The local beach is iconic for surfing and swimming, the local creek is a favourite at the inlet for young kids to swim or for canoeists to have somewhere quiet to paddle. Mountain biking is a must in the area, with thousands of tracks available right outside the back door. If you have your own horse you can bring it along on holiday with you, we have paddocks available and there are so many gorgeous tracks around to ride on and beach riding at low tide and the right times is a bucket list item! The location itself is 17 acres and is next to the Painkallac creek in a peaceful bush setting. This location used to be a horse riding school which is now not running but has been converted to offer camping, caravan and RV parking. It’s only 1.5 km from the beach and the Otway national park is right on your doorstep. If you have bikes, horses or love to hike or run, or just laze on the beach, it’s a perfect location, be ready to be spoilt as there are so many tracks on offer in our stunning local beach and bush land. The local town of aireys inlet has plenty to offer, a general store for all your essentials, loads of places to eat out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and only 1 3/4hrs from Melbourne. No need to stress if you don’t want to be near anyone else, this is a small setting so it’s very private and its only got one space to rent so that you have peace and quiet. If you do have friends and want to book a double space please just message me and I can open up another space for you. I also have an option to add a pottery class for you, the cost is $50 a person for a two hour session. Look forward to seeing you at our cosy country and coastal retreat.

Aireys inlet is a unique tiny town with so much to do. The local beach is iconic for surfing and swimming, the local creek is a favourite at the inlet for young kids to swim or for canoeists to have somewhere quiet to paddle. Mountain biking is a must in the area, with thousands of tracks available right outside the back door. If you have your own horse you can bring it along on holiday with you, we have paddocks available and there are so many gorgeous tracks around to ride on and beach riding at low tide and the right times is a bucket list item! The location itself is 17 acres and is next to the Painkallac creek in a peaceful bush setting. This location used to be a horse riding school which is now not running but has been converted to offer camping, caravan and RV parking. It’s only 1.5 km from the beach and the Otway national park is right on your doorstep. If you have bikes, horses or love to hike or run, or just laze on the beach, it’s a perfect location, be ready to be spoilt as there are so many tracks on offer in our stunning local beach and bush land. The local town of aireys inlet has plenty to offer, a general store for all your essentials, loads of places to eat out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and only 1 3/4hrs from Melbourne. No need to stress if you don’t want to be near anyone else, this is a small setting so it’s very private and its only got one space to rent so that you have peace and quiet. If you do have friends and want to book a double space please just message me and I can open up another space for you. I also have an option to add a pottery class for you, the cost is $50 a person for a two hour session. Look forward to seeing you at our cosy country and coastal retreat.

Rancho Nirvana is a fantastic spot for a relaxing camping experience. Marc is a wonderful host and Murray the dog was a most welcome guest during our stay. Amenities are excellent/ as advertised. We didn’t use the pool but others took advantage during some very hot weather. Great location, close enough for coastal excursions etc. A great stay.

And super dog friendly which is a huge bonus in Geelong area . Limited pet friendly caravan parks available especially in peak season Also provides power and water . My partner and I had a great time camping at Bay Park. The grounds were lovely we stayed down the far end which made you feel like you were in the woods. It was peaceful and relaxing. The new toilet/shower block was clean the toilet down near us was a little dated but all added to the rustic feel. The staff were amazing, shout out to Michelle for being so friendly and accommodating we will definately be back. Also the beach/shops are an hour walk and there is also an hourly bus outside the campsite if you don’t drive.

We had a lovely camping trip at Bay Park. The area where we stayed was quiet and peaceful and really felt like we were in the woods. Michelle was amazing, and really accommodating we really appreciated all her help. The showers and toilets at the top end were new and very nice, the toilets near our end were a little dated but working and all added to the rustic experience. Will Definitely be coming back. Great camping spot, 10 min drive from Mount Martha South beach and in a nice park. The toilet and showers were better than expected and the rangers were super friendly and helpful. Fire camps are permitted as long as the weather allows and there’s potable water on site. Only thing to note is that the Site E has a slight inclination which is not ideal for setting camp up, but it isn’t a dealbreaker.

The best camping near Anglesea guide

When to go

You’ll need to reserve ahead from December 26 until the end of January when the summer holiday crowds descend on the coast. Be aware of bushfires in the hottest months. At any other time of year, the village takes on a slower pace and you’ll have Anglesea pretty much to yourselves.

Know before you go

  • If driving, beware kangaroos around Anglesea, especially when driving at dusk and in the evenings when they appear to nibble on front lawns. If you do encounter one, allow it to hop away at its will (they may become disorientated by the headlights). 
  • As everywhere along the Great Ocean Road, adhere to all bushfire warnings.
  • Anglesea has reasonable services, including a small supermarket; for a wider choice, stock up in Torquay (if you’re heading west).
