We're located up a gravel road on the northwest coast, you won't find any other tourists here. Soak in the woodfired tub, under the blackwood tree. Cosy up to the wood fire, roasting marshmallows in your star Gazer yurt. A comfy queen bed and a backyard of adventure, it's a Tasmanian version of luxury camping. Our Yurt location is known as The Top Paddock - A Little Inside Information: Well in my opinion (and a few others) I am Living The Dream! I started living here permanently seven years ago, most of the property's out dwellings and the Cabin is built from recycled, reclaimed materials or been handed down. I am fully off the grid and in the process of trying to become self-sufficient. The water is pumped from a springfed dam and mostly gravity-ed. It's a little like McDonald's Farm, an array of birds and animals. There's an orchard, hothouse and a Raspberry patch which may be my favourite spot when they're fruiting. It really is an amazing lifestyle, peaceful, relaxing and rewarding. You should come see for yourself 😉

Welcome to our beautiful wilderness retreat on the Bodhicitta Dakini Buddhist Monastery - a sanctuary for meditation and peace. Our monastery is 38 beautiful acres in Unesco world heritage forest in the Western Tiers, Northern Tasmania (an island on the very Southern tip of Australia). The property is set nearby the Quamby Bluff Trail, a 6km moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Golden Valley, Tasmania, Australia that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Please help us preserve the peace and beauty of this place. We are an alcohol and drug free community. Feel free to chat with our friendly nun if you are interested in mindfulness and to walk the property while you stay. We have an unpowered site suitable for vans and 4wd caravans. We also have basic camping, pit toilet but no shower. We also have cabins, please ask if interested.

1 night at Black Cottage Farm

This site was amazing, gravel driveway and pad to set the van up on. Beautiful views and amazing sunsets, kids loved playing soccer in the paddock! Melinda was an excellent host, very responsive and easy to deal with. The site was a nice fit for our large 9m Ofroad van, simply reverse up the driveway to make setup easier. We would love to come back and visit one day!

Sandy’s Gates of Heaven truly lives up to its name. I was lucky enough to enjoy this beautiful property all to myself, and it was absolute bliss. The firepit added a perfect touch, and the trees sprinkled with soft lighting created a magical setting for stargazing and unwinding. Sandy was incredibly accommodating, and her attention to detail made the stay even more special. I couldn’t recommend this place more—already looking forward to my next visit!

2 nights at The Gates of Heaven

The Gates of Heaven camp on private property is conveniently located only 10 minutes from the township of Sheffield. It is surrounded by thick bushland on a quiet road, which gives a feeling of solitude. The basic camper is provided with a fire pit, tables, chairs and seats, information sheets on the flora and fauna of the site and several options for parking and setting up camp. It was my first time solo camping, and this place worked well for me. Thanks Sandy!

We enjoyed the relaxed peacefulness of this camp spot. Surrounded by bush and bird sounds. The Camo is close to the road but was quiet still. The weather was beautiful while we were there so we didn't take the opportunity to make use of the fire pit area provided. We enjoyed a wander around the property and explored some of the tracks. The camp is just a short drive to Sheffield, Railton, Kimberly and even Mole Creek which would make it a great base to explore the sites around the area.

We loved the grassy camping area nestled among trees and ferns. It was a nice shady site for hot days. Water was available from the rainwater tanks and we had a wonderful evening around the firepit.
