Finding us couldn't be easier , just turn right at the welcome to Franklin sign when driving from Huonville. Our gate has two big gum stumps as posts. Early arrival/ caravan drop off possible. please contact us to arrange With big views up the Huon Valley and over the river, this campsite will be sure to provide a great stay. The property is a 5 minute walk into the Historic town of Franklin, where there are are pubs and restaurants. We have 2 flat sites and 3 slight gradient sites, all are far apart. All sites accessible by 2wd depending on weather. There are no facilities, so the site is suitable for self contained campers only, There is dump for toilet water. The site also has drinking water water available free. Due to our children and our Alpaca on site pets must be kept on a leash. Visiting children are welcome to help our kids feed Alpaca, just ask. The property has an orchard of cherry plums, apples, pears, lemons and apricots. There are great walks and sites to see in the local area. It's possible to see Aurora from your campsite, but not guaranteed.

Leven River Camping On Wattle Farm: Your Wilderness Escape Discover Leven River Camping at Wattle Farm, a tranquil retreat nestled on the edge of the wilderness, where the river and forest greet you at your front door. This naturally forested 100-acre property is a haven for abundant native wildlife, offering an idyllic escape into nature. When you book, you'll secure a site within one of our designated camping areas, with the freedom to choose your exact setup spot upon arrival. We offer two main areas: "The Big Paddock" (left of the road) and "The Little Paddock" (right of the road). The Big Paddock is ideally suited for smaller campervans, tents, swags, off-road caravans, and camper trailers. Here, you can set up anywhere within its bounds; pitching your tent among the trees or along the river is perfect for a truly immersive experience. An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river. For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket. Natural Surroundings & Activities: Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails. The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic. Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley. Important Information No facilities are provided on-site. Campsites are alongside Franklin Rivulet- a picturesque tidal estuary in northern TAS. At Farm on Franklin you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, bushwalking, bird watching, oystering (please cook them), and wildlife spotting. We are 15mins to Port Sorell, Bakers Beach, Narawntapu National Park, and House of Anvers Chocolate Factory. 25mins to Devonport, 1hr to Launceston, 1.5hrs to Cradle Mt and surrounded by attractions from Berry Farms to Wineries and stunning farmland. This is a beautiful natural campsite on land near our home. You'll need to have your own power, toilet/shower and leave no trace. We've had 18 months off, but we're back and hope to see you soon!

An absolute amazing experience and place to stay. Beautiful bush setting by the river. Seeing the water and tide go in and out was magnificent. This is a magical spot, we were spoiled with a magnificent view from our camp site watching the tide coming in and out. Sarah and Mark were fantastic hosts and the kids were very friendly and joined our kids in some games. We bought some firewood from Mark and had a sensational fire. We would definitely recommend this site!

Weekend Trip to Farm on Franklin - Tasmania

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and taken care of. The space is a mix of bushy or open with the ability to choose where best suits you to set up. We followed the hosts suggestion to camp in an open area away from a large group for more peace and quiet. My friend and I booked two sites and had our 4 dogs with us who were able to have them off lead and they were much happier and relaxed than when they have to be secured. They also had the kids come and play with them which they absolutely loved. We really enjoyed having the kids show us the estuary and crabs. We really felt like we were an extension of the family during our stay and would happily stay here solo. Looking forward to staying here again soon!

Positives: Beautiful soft, well kept lawn to set up on. We didn't even bother using our mat. A choice of full sun or full/part shaded areas. Abundant bird life. Relatively easy access to the river up near the bridge. Looked like a good spot to launch kayaks, fish or swim with caution. Fire drums and stone fire areas provided to some sites Negatives: (if you want to be pedantic) *Very small signs - we found it, but 4 vans drove past and had to turn around. * only 1 river access, which many times was being used by day visitors so access was restricted

Such a beautiful peaceful place. We had a wonderful view of the dam and surrounding farmland. We were lucky enough to encounter a platypus in 2 of the dams, we were visited by a wallaby and saw plenty of bird life. Steve was very helpful and he made us feel very welcome! Highly recommend staying a few days at Sheps Farm!!!

A stunning camp, which we were lucky to have all to ourselves. Being lower than the surrounding hills gives great protection from the winds. The surrounding area is postcard perfect. Platypus and trout in the dams, green rolling hills, sheep grazing around. Quiet and peaceful, yet close to civilisation. This is what Hipcamp is about! All within 15 odd minutes from the Spirit of Tasmania. My only regret is only staying three. Nights!

Great communication with Darren. It had been very wet and I ended up a bit closer to the road but it was a higher and drier site. The road is a bit busy and noisy during the day but it gets quiet at night. The location is beautiful with views over the river Huon, and Franklin is a nice little town. Also close to Huonville and everything the Huon Valley has to offer. Great stay, and Darren and family are very accommodating.
