The Cassowary Shack (Off grid no power) - A place less ordinary... is an 8 acre private retreat surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. The grounds comfortably accommodate up to 6 large caravans at one time for that ideal get together. There is a flushing toilet, cold outdoor shower near the shed and hot shower at top site (power required e.g. portable generator or inverter). Two large 4 legged starry night baths to take in rainforest vibes and a small creek to explore. This property is located 3 min drive to beautiful Hutchinson swimming hole and 2 min drive to the spectacular and secluded Cow Bay beach rated in the Top 10 beaches in Qld. The Discovery Centre is a short 5 min drive and Cape Tribulation is 15 min north making it an ideal location for a quick getaway from Cairns and a sensational fishing base camp where you can beach launch at Cow Bay or drive back south 15 minutes to launch at the Daintree River.

Camping in a quiet, peaceful rural location with lots of space, at a small private vegetable market garden and hay farm. You can base yourself on our property while making trips to nearby Mossman Gorge, Port Douglas, Daintree National Park, local beaches and other attractions. We offer sites beside a vacant farm cottage and hay shed, or a choice of other areas around the farm. Campers have use of spacious, clean amenities with hot shower, toilet and vanity. In the drier months, from April to December, we bale our pasture, and grow mixed vegetables and flowers to supply a local outlet. See Facebook: Pink's Produce, Miallo. Ours is a working farm that the two of us (not young folks) manage on our own. Campers can join in whatever we are doing at the time, stand by and watch, or just sit back and enjoy. If you are interested in growing veggies or just seeing how we do it, then we are happy to show you around. Otherwise you can just relax in peaceful surroundings. Our farm also offers unique elevated views of the local farming area with a backdrop of The Great Dividing Range, the Coral Sea and Port Douglas. There is also an impressive variety of butterflies and bird life to enjoy. Hosts are happy to show campers around our market garden that we start cultivating after the wet season and usually continue until December - weather dependant. Guests will have access to a portable fire place during their stay as well as a BBQ grill and hotplate. Firewood is available for purchase. We have electricity available from the vacant cottage at $25/night. Must be booked through Extras. Our 150acre property has spectacular mountain views, as well as views to Port Douglas and the Coral Sea. There are small creeks on the property that attract birdlife and have a variety of freshwater fish and turtles in them. Nearby there are several larger creeks for cooling off, and properties with horses, cattle and sugarcane. We are a 15min drive to Mossman, the closest town, and 45mins south to Port Douglas or north to the Daintree township. You can take a shortcut to the road to Daintree via the WWII Japanese Miallo Bombing Memorial.

I stayed here for a couple nights and had the space and creek all to myself! The site is private and the creek is so pristine. The waterhole close by that is recommended, is absolutely superb. Went to the Julatten Hotel for dinner one night which is literally a couple minutes away. The beautiful lady that’s lives on the property is soo lovely. Perfect for a private camp site with quite a shaded area with dinner and lunch options close by, along with pristine creek dips. 100% recommend! Thanks for having me :)

Connor is an awsome friendly guy who bends over backwards to help you out. The place was perfect 👌, we tried booking the caravan park in Wonga and found out why... plenty of spots but nothing for a family and dog, the lady was rude there when we were trying to get to the beach. Highly recommend the Cyclone Bunker, super friendly had a good yarn and offered more then he needed to. Thanks again

We loved our stay at Kingston Road farm! The view is simply spectacular and the campsite is peaceful and quiet with lovely grass area for tent setup. Toilet and shower facilities are clean, well maintained, and very easy to access. Nerida and Mick were so welcoming and generous, giving us a tour around the farm and sharing their fresh produce with us! We had the best time and will definitely be back in the future!

We arrived late with no issues during our stay at Dans property, and the space was a well thought out. There were little nooks to tuck away into with our camper and close to flushing, clean toilets (what a treat!) It rained while we were there, but this only added to the peaceful, tropical experience for what we thought was going to be a quick over night stop. Stunning! We'll never forget this one.

We had a wonderful experience at Neridas Land. The location is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, clean, and surrounded by nature. But what truly made our stay special were the hosts. They were incredibly warm and welcoming, taking time out of their day to show us around and make sure we felt at home. We were greeted by Mick and Nerida who were wonderful. The site has a great bathroom and shower making it glamping. The location is at the foothills of the Daintree Forrest’s. We were given a tour of the farm and the history of the farm. A great tour to take if offered. Would recommend Mick and Nerida to anyone who wants to spend a hassle free camping trip near the Daintree. My wife and I give them 5 stars.

We had a great time camping at the Cassowary shack! It's in the middle of the rainforest, nothing but nature around. Very spacious and open surface. Woke up to colorful butterflies flying and birds singing all around us. We had the pleasure of meeting Dan and Kate as well, they're super lovely and helpful. Couldn't have wished for a better experience :)
