Dive into history and heritage at one of the oldest towns in the Tablelands.
Proud of its history as the oldest existing town in the Atherton Tablelands, Herberton has heritage sites and tropical landscapes in equal measure, both easy to explore from a Herberton campground. Once you’ve learned about the town’s tin mining heritage at the Herberton Mining Museum and had a taste of 19th-century life at Herberton Historic Village, you’ll find several national parks within day-trip distance. Hit the trails at nearby Herberton Range National Park to hike, mountain bike, or horseback ride; go bush camping in the Baldy Mountain Forest Reserve; or drive the highest road in Queensland down to Tumoulin Forest Reserve. A little further, you can hike through UNESCO-listed Wet Tropics rainforest and camp by the riverside in Wooroonooran National Park. Campers can also seek out a quiet Hipcamp in the surrounding hinterland, camp along the Wild River, or check into Herberton’s holiday park, which has powered sites, pet-friendly campsites, and cabin rentals.
