5 sites · RVs33 acres · Booral, QLD
Virtue Farm is a 33 acre property overlooking K'Gari (Fraser Island). It includes 27 acres of remnant forest which will never be developed. The forest is an oasis for bird life, koalas, echidnas, kangaroos, other animals and is great for walking. There is no water, power or internet provided. You must have your own toilet to stay here and be able to remove all grey water. Our regional council does not allow us to host swag/tent campers. Tents and swags may be permitted if accompanied by an RV or caravan, please ask us first. Virtue Farm is a council approved self-contained recreational vehicle ground. Arrival after dark is by prior arrangement only as we have no lighting on the farm. We are 10 minutes from Hervey Bay and 10 minutes from the K'Gari (Fraser Island) barge that leaves from River Heads. Our land is registered with Land for Wildlife. We would love to share our developing farm with you while you stay. We are building a productive, diverse permaculture farm incorporating a market garden, food forest and small volume egg production. Our mission is to share sustainable production and lifestyle through education, tourism, partnerships and homestays. We operate all aspects of our business based on good moral ethics, honesty, and sustainability. Virtue Farm is 10 km from the barge to K'Gari (Fraser Island) and only 10 minutes drive to Hervey Bay's beautiful beaches, the Water Park, Urangan Pier, restaurants, shops and cafes. From your campsite, on our farm block, you will have sensational views to K'Gari (Fraser Island) whilst being surrounded by 27 acres of bushland that is reserved for nature and registered with Land for Wildlife. Expect to see amazing colours at sunrise and sunset. Enjoy the many birds and animals that you will see as you spend time exploring our bush and farm. There's the added bonus of a range of fresh, organically grown produce to be harvested daily at a small extra cost. You will love the peace and quiet of our block and the huge array of wildlife that choose to call our place home. To preserve this tranquility, pets and rowdy groups are not suited to this camp site. You are welcome to camp in family and friendship groups. If camping in a group you can choose how closely to camp near each other. If not with a group you must be at least 20m away from other campers to respect their privacy. The camping area is a slightly sloping grassed paddock - you will find rocks and uneven ground. All vehicles must be completely self-contained taking all water and waste off site. We have a Containers for Change collection point (recycling bottles and cans) and other bins to collect recyclable materials and will happily accept compostable waste. We welcome you to Virtue Farm where we are creating a chemical-free, sustainably grown, productive, diverse, permaculture farm incorporating a market garden and food forest. The guest guide that we provide on your arrival shares a little more about what we do. Dam Crazy? You would have to be to bypass over 620 acres of scenic bushland off the beaten track for your next camping getaway or stopover on your way on the Bruce Highway. An abundance of birdlife with over 135 different species found so far including a Powerful Owl. A magnificent 400 megalitre dam that now forms part of the natural landscape of this unique property. A hidden gem in the Wide Bay/Fraser Coast area of Queensland where relaxation, peace and privacy are unavoidable as are the sunsets and shooting stars in the clear skies above. We are 20 minutes from the quaint Childers Township and 50 minutes from Bundaberg. The property is totally private and caravans cannot been seen from the road, the owners live on the property and only booked guests are to enter the property offering security and peace of mind. Whether you want to bird watch, kayak, fish (catch and release only), hike or ride one of the many trails or sit, relax and read your favourite book, we promise a warm welcome; from the wildlife and the proprietors Miranda, Brendon and Esa the dog.
