Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s. Large groups are welcome. There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down. Kids under 12 are free but if fossicking must be covered by a permit. Pets are welcome. Our farm is 160ac with the beautiful Mary river along the boundary, perfect for fishing and camping! It is situated in the Mary valley between Kenilworth (8 mins), Eumundi (15mins) and Imbil (12mins). So lots of options to have an adventure, see new things and explore! Sunrises, sunsets and night skies filled with stars are unforgettable! The river water levels depend on rainfall and run off. We have 4 sites available with a short walk down to the river. Fire pits are at all sites and camp fires are to be kept to the fire pits supplied only. There is plenty of dead wood and debris for fires, we have firewood available for you to buy so you don’t have to pack it as well. No burning of any rubbish, especially cans and glass. IMPORTANT please note, we do NOT have amenities or drinking water. You need to be self sufficient and bring your own shower/toilet, and take with you ALL waste. The road to the campsite currently is only grass, when dry it is 2WD accessible, but 4WD is best. Dogs must be on a leash at all times and must be cleaned up after. As we are a working dairy we are happy to trial having dogs here.
