As a starting point for this new venture at Findon Creek we offer 3 sites which are all suitable for larger groups; all situated on grassy open spaces beside the creek. In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites, though the flats themselves are not boggy. Explore the great outdoors by wandering along our extensive bush tracks and trying your hand at fishing in our farm dam stocked with silver perch. Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional serenade of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Kyogle is a 30 minute drive away. And there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. Experience Figtree Farm at Findon Creek, a 600-acre natural oasis. Tucked away in a tranquil, secluded valley, this hidden gem is surrounded by Long Creek to the south and Findon Creek to the west, while the northern edge extends to the breathtaking Border Ranges National Park. On Gullibal land, Figtree Farm provides captivating vistas of Jalgumbin (Mt Lindesay) to the west and Lever's Plateau, a designated wilderness area of unlogged subtropical rainforest, to the north. This much-loved family-owned farm has a rich history, transitioning from a dairy farm to a beef property. Today, it flourishes with a bio-diverse planting of native trees and a bespoke joinery workshop crafting designer furniture. While Figtree Farm has been a camping destination for family and friends for many years and now we're happy to extend this welcome to Hipcampers too. As a starting point for this new venture at Findon Creek we offer 3 sites which are all suitable for larger groups; all situated on grassy open spaces beside the creek. In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites, though the flats themselves are not boggy. Explore the great outdoors by wandering along our extensive bush tracks and trying your hand at fishing in our farm dam stocked with silver perch. Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional serenade of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Kyogle is a 30 minute drive away. And there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. Figtree Farm at Findon Creek promises opportunities for contemplation, relaxation and fun and it is our wish that you will have many happy memories of your visit here.

Rainforest Gateway is a family-owned park set on five acres of waterfront camping. Located on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road, in the Border Ranges ranges of northern NSW. The park features grassy powered sites, unpowered sites and comfortable units. On-site amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, laundry and camp kitchen. We are a dog-friendly park so the whole family is welcome. Dogs need to be restrained at all times. NO AGGRESSIVE DOGS. We are an adult-only, clothing-optional, 50-acre farm. We are secluded and situated on a quiet road with forest screening. We have creek with a swimming hole and sandy beach. We offer several flat, well grassed campgrounds, some with fire pits. We offer access to off-grid power. We also offer a series of internal walks & running tracks through the forested parts of the property. In addition, we offer a trained masseur who will massage in the forest or near the creek. We offer arts courses: life drawing, basket making and cyanotyping. We can provide escorted tours of local sights including galleries, natural sights and a local commune.

Our campsite is located right on the doorstep to Lamington National Park and the entrance to most walking tracks. The nearby Tea House cafe is also open for all guests and features a small gift shop with basic supplies and retail goods. Camping options include campsites for up to 4 people and a limited number of powered drive-on sites suitable for small campervans. Sites are level pitches. No vehicle access is possible onto campsites, only on drive on sites. Tents and gear must be carried a short distance from the loading bay to pre-allocated sites.

Overview

At the heart of the Scenic Rim region, the pint-sized town of Beaudesert provides a welcome change of pace to the busy Gold Coast resorts to the east. Soak up the laid-back atmosphere as you browse the farmer’s markets, dine at country restaurants, and check into the local caravan park. Beaudesert’s biggest asset is its location. Choose Brisbane or the Gold Coast beaches—both an hour’s drive away—or explore the vineyards and artisan towns of the surrounding Hinterlands. For an outdoor adventure, there are six national parks nearby.

Where to go

Around Wyaralong Dam

Just west of Beaudesert, the verdant shores of Lake Wyaralong have more than 40 kilometers of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails to explore. Take in the views from Mt Joyce, picnic by the lakeside, then pitch your tent at a waterfront camping ground. In the summer, water sports, including kayaking and canoeing, are popular along the lake.

Gold Coast Hinterlands

East of Beaudesert, Tamborine Mountain is the star of the Gold Coast hinterlands, where you can hike to waterfalls, spot wildlife along the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, or enjoy wine tasting at a boutique winery. Another must-visit destination is the Springbrook National Park. Enjoy bushwalking and camping in the Numinbah Valley, then discover the glowworm caves of the Natural Bridge.

South Scenic Rim

The southern section of the Scenic Rim region is home to some of its wildest landscapes. Head into the Lamington National Park to hike through UNESCO-listed rainforest, discover hidden waterfalls, and sleep at remote bush camps. To the west, Mount Barney National Park has summit climbs to challenge the most experienced hikers and backcountry campsites in the heart of the bush.

When to go

The hinterlands are a year-round destination, but the best weather for outdoor activities is from late autumn to early spring (April through September). Markets and events are held on weekends throughout the year, and this is the liveliest time to visit. Summer (December through February) campers should prepare for hot weather—daytime temperatures can reach over 30°C—and frequent downpours.

Know before you go

Buses connect Beaudesert to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, but having your own transport is useful for exploring the hinterlands and national parks.

Beaudesert has a selection of shops and restaurants, but for specialist camping gear, it’s best to head to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so check local recommendations before lighting a fire.
Camping permits are required to camp within Queensland’s national parks and must be reserved in advance.
