Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney. Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed. In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure. Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley. This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous. Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day. There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

Originally settled in 1889 "Bobs Grant" this lovely property and the surrounding land was originally used for farming but is now mostly turf farms. Enjoy our little getaway down by the Hawkesbury River only 10 minutes from historic Windsor. A beautiful river shack for your use exclusively, including fire pit with direct access to the Hawkesbury river. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are loving welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Relax and enjoy the serenity whilst being only 1 hour from Sydney. We offer the site to one group only, a maximum of 20 guests. However note, we are not a place for rowdy groups and parties. Groups are welcome here to enjoy the time with their family and friends, play a little music and relax by the river. The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice! We have one basic toilet, and one river water shower available too! Please bring your own drinking water. You can bring your dogs, but they must be on a leash at all times. We have three little puppies that love to roam their property. We lock them up sometimes but most of the time they are just running around having fun. Minimum of 2 dogs per booking and they must be noted on the booking. Fires are only permitted when allowed, in the designated areas only.

Accessible only by boat, this secluded and lovingly decorated house at Bar Point on the Hawkesbury River, (aka Deerubbin,) is only an hour from the Sydney CBD. This beautiful Artists retreat is surrounded by nature. You don't have to be an artist to stay with us, but we do offer free boat transfers for artists and musicians. You will arrive by boat and soak up the serenity. Large deck with river views. Located on the waterfront on the Eastern side of Bar Point. Our custom-designed Finnish sauna offers a unique and holistic experience, the combination of heat, dimmed lights, and the smell of cedar or essential oils creates a healing ambience that is both invigorating and comforting. The house is full of Art, books, games, and DVDs, there is also the 'yoga deck' behind the house with even more expansive views of the river - a perfect place to do some morning meditation or enjoy a bowl of pasta as the sun goes down, highlighting the orange of the sandstone cliffs across the river. Surrounded by National Parks and completely free of cars and traffic, this is a beautiful little retreat, perfect for a family or a group of friends to meet up and re centre. At Bar Point there are no shops or cafes so you must bring everything you need with you, basic pantry staples such as salt, pepper, cooking oil etc are provided. Kayaks, fishing poles and crab pots provided. Our own private residence is a separate apartment upstairs, there are no shared walls or internal stairs and you will have your own private entrance, however as it is a large, old wooden house you may at times hear us moving about upstairs, naturally we try to be as quiet as possible when we have guests visiting. We will leave you entirely to yourselves but if you do need any help or information or even a little guided walking tour of the locality we are very happy to accommodate you. Our sauna deck is a shared area which guests are welcome to use, heating the sauna takes an hour or two, so just let us know and we will get it all ready for you with fresh towels, scented oils and branches of freshly cut lavender or wormwood to create a beautiful ambience.

Camping by the fire under the stars. Pony rides are available for kids. We have horse facilities available also if you want to camp and ride your horse. Fantastic facilities for families wanting to get away with the kids.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Wallaby Flat and highly recommend it. If you want a spot that is truly secluded, private, and beautiful, this is it. The property is bordered by Kanangra-Boyd National Park, making it feel incredibly peaceful. The river is very nice and was warm enough to soak in - the perfect way to cool down in the afternoon heat. While the river wasn’t as deep as usual during our stay, there were still spots deep enough to swim in. Hiking trails are available nearby, though we spent most of our time relaxing. There is also plenty of shade to help avoid the direct sun. We spotted trout swimming by, and while we didn’t see the reclusive platypus or wombat, we saw many curious wallabies, birds, and rabbits. For future campers: be sure to download offline maps before heading out, as there is no reception nearby. Danny’s directions and maps are excellent, but try to arrive during daylight to make finding the site easier. Danny was an exceptional host - extremely friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the land and local wildlife. We had an outstanding time and are already looking forward to visiting again. Overall: 5 out of 5.

This was our third time camping here in a year, so you could say it’s become a favourite spot of ours. We love being right on the water, watching the sun go down and topping it off with a wood fire pizza. Down by the Hawkesbury is a rare find and recommended. Lots of positives - lovely hosts, easy access for all vehicle types, private and spacious area to use right above the river (complete with amazing sunsets), massive undercover area with lots of lighting options (general and party string lights) plus power points, a “mini amenity block” with washing up area, flushing toilet and shower (super hot water). We spent four nights there, me in my bell tent with my dog and my parents in Mabel (the vintage caravan). Mabel is super cute, super comfortable and even has air-con. Please note, depending on where you pitch your tent, if you are a light sleeper, you may hear sounds carrying across the water at night. If you are sensitive to this (like me) bring your usual ear plugs, ear phones etc. just in case. I used mine only two nights, but thought it best to mention for anyone similar. Not an issue if staying in Mabel, or your own camper-van / caravan. The main ground area is really well kept - bindi free, actual lawn! It is soft under foot and nice to sit down on. Access to the river is via constructed steps, so bring your fishing gear if that’s your thing (no luck for Dad, just two eels, that were thrown back) Nature is right there to enjoy - the river, trees, birdlife, a couple of Water-Dragons and Blue-Tongues that passed by somedays… vivid sunsets and bright stars at night. Not far from townships of Pitt Town and Windsor if you need camp supplies or some take-away food.

We had such a great stay. Made a last minute booking on a super hot day, and Katie had a lovely shady spot for us and our cat. All the horses on the property were so friendly, and not remotely put off by said cat! It was kind of adorable watching them suss each other out. No other campers, and far enough away from the house so was very private. Would highly recommend.

You will not find a better spot within two hours on Sydney. I’m reluctant to share how good it is in fear of it being booked out next time we go. We went for a family catch up before Christmas. Even though it was a 40 degree weekend it didn’t feel like it under the beautiful shady trees. The river, though busy with boats on the hottest weekend of the year offered a quick refresh in a floating tube. Megan the host was fantastic, responsive and warm. The property itself is immaculate. Beautiful sunsets, My Brother hired Mabel the vintage caravan for the two nights and loved lt. It was the perfect weekend. Thank you so much Megan.

Private and secluded camp spot all to ourselves. River front only a few meters down an embankment. Crystal clear flowing water, basic drop toilet and shower. Camp area fit our group of 12 ppl easily. A beautiful spot to camp and unwind. Host Danny was very helpful and responded to messages quickly, provided detailed map instructions which were easy to follow.

We just had the best weekend of camping at Down by the Hawkesbury. The site is so beautiful, and the facilities (particularly the undercover area) are excellent. The pizza oven had to change nationality for our curry night, so it could produce K & T’s amazing naan bread. Our group all had a wonderful time and we are so looking forward to our next stay at the end of the year. Thank you so much Megan and Trevor, you both made our stay so easy to arrange, and it was great when Trevor brought the dogs down to say hello. We would certainly recommend Down by the Hawkesbury to others, but please don’t book it when we want to visit!! Thanks again From our whole group.
