The Old Dairy @ Baerami

1 site · Lodging150 acres · Baerami, NSW
Our property is approximately 150 acres, located in the Upper Hunter Valley between the Goulburn River National Park and the Wollemi National Park. In the shadow of Mt Dangar, our land sweeps down to the pristine Goulburn River, one of the main tributaries of the Hunter River. The property was once part of a huge agricultural station, that was established not long after explorers started to open up the interior to development in colonial times. We raise cattle and have an olive grove, which we planted in 2001 (our olive brand is Windybank Olives). In 2003 we established The Old Dairy accommodation, by renovating the crumbling 1940's dairy shed at the top of the property. There are stunning views of the surrounding countryside in all directions from The Old Dairy. It is a place to unwind, relax, reset. Guests have loved the peace & quiet we offer, the chance to get away from everything for a short while. Our road is just off Bylong Valley Way - a visually stunning route through the national parks towards Mudgee, Rylstone, Capertee Valley, Lithgow and the Greater Blue Mountains, tracking along the headwaters of the Goulburn River. One of the most beautiful drives in New South Wales and within close proximity of terrific campsites like Ganguddy (Dunn's Swamp via Rylstone) and Big River (Gouburn River National Park). Plenty of birds & wildlife (kangaroos make a very regular appearance - as do healthy green tree frogs!). A beautiful part of the world.

Glamping in Hunter Valley with showers guide

Overview

About three hours' drive north of Sydney, the Hunter Valley is a popular weekend getaway for city slickers who want to explore its heritage towns, cellar doors, and acclaimed eateries. But it’s also a destination for lovers of the outdoors with gardens and national parks to explore. When camping in the Hunter Valley for a nature trip, consider biking between wineries.

Where to go

Pokolbin

As well as boasting the cellar doors of some of Australia’s most famous wine labels, including Tyrrells and McGuigan, Pokolbin is home to the Hunter Valley Gardens. An eight-kilomtre walking track leads you through 10 themed gardens, including an oriental garden, Italian grotto, and a storybook garden for kids.

Lovedale

Best known for the annual event the Lovedale Long Lunch, a progressive-style feast that takes you to several wineries, Lovedale has lots to offer year-round. Take in the views over the vineyards, trot over the Molly Morgan Range on a horse-riding adventure, or indulge at Hunter Valley Chocolate Company.

Werakata National Park

Lace up your hiking boots and pack a picnic lunch for a day out in Werakata National Park in the Lower Hunter Valley. Bursting with wildflowers in spring, the park is a great place to spot birds such as the threatened swift parrot and regent honeyeater. Here you’ll find numerous walking paths, bike tracks, and picnic areas.
