Curlew Camp - Birds & Fishing

2 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · Lake Cargelligo, NSW
Campers MUST be FULLY SELF CONTAINED (this includes bringing your own toilet and shower) Why choose Curlew Camp? *Large camping area *50m of shoreline *Newly built large skillion 8 x 5m! ALL YOURS! *2 kayaks waiting for you at camp (free!) *Bin provided for your convenience *Tap with hose (water straight from lake; not filtered) *Amazing sunrises and sunsets in a beautiful location. Curlew Camp – Birds and Fishing is a 2.5 acre property with lake frontage to Curlew Waters. Curlew Waters is one of the three lakes in the Lake Cargelligo area. An “Oasis in the Outback” the wetland system is channeled by the Lachlan River flowing into the “Sheet of Water” then “Curlew Waters” and finally into the main lake “Lake Cargelligo”. Lake Cargelligo is a 10 minute drive from your location at "Curlew Camp" offering services such as fuel station, supermarket, bakery, pubs, clubs, chemist and hardware store. Curlew Waters is the deepest of the lakes and offers a beautiful yet quiet location for your leisure including Water Sports, Canoeing, Swimming, Fishing and Birdwatching. Just an ideal spot to relax in general. Wake up early and enjoy stunning sunrises and listen to the tunes of nature. Enjoy views of birds out in the water such as fishing Pelicans, Great Crested Grebes, and Great Egret. In the Gum trees on the block and surrounds watch out for Mallee Ringneck, Apostlebirds, Little Friarbird and Grey-crowned Babbler. In the shrubby salt bush and lignum areas keep your eye out for Purple-backed Fairywren and listen out for exciting birds that sometimes fly overhead: Cockatiels, Superb Parrots and Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo! At Curlew Camp you will find a mowed down area with lake frontage set amongst the gum trees. The block can only be booked by one person or group at a time and is fenced. Please be aware though if you have small children the channel of water is not fenced and fronts the entire western side of the block. The short driveway into the block is dirt so road conditions vary depending on weather. After heavy rain access is 4WD only. The property is situated right at the mouth of the channel that feeds from Curlew Waters into Lake Cargelligo, so if you are a fisherman you can float out on the water in your boat or just throw a line out front: no reason to go anywhere if you don’t want to! We have uploaded photos of fish caught in the lake for your enjoyment: please note we do promote catch and release (or only take what you need) Fish in the lake include Murray Cod, Yellowbelly, Redfin, Catfish and European Carp. There are no amenities available at the campsite so you must be fully self-contained. There are dump points at Lake Cargelligo for your convenience. A campfire is permitted in the allocated fire pit. Pets are allowed but please keep your furry friends on a lead at all times and discard any waste. So come along, bring your swag, your tent, your campertrailer or caravan. Bring your camera or your binoculars or just a comfy chair and sit back and enjoy the serenity.
