Our rental property was once a mini Rail Road with full size locomotive's, train cars, pumper cars and more. My dad & grandpa layed all the tracks & put together the buildings in the 1970's. Once done my grandma sold tickets to the tourist and my grandpa ran the engine around the 7 acre oval track pulling a train car full of happy tourist through the woods over the train bridge and past the big water tower back to their vehicles so they could finish their journies with a drive to Mt. Rainier. There is a lot of history on this property for our family and we hope by sharing it with others they will be able to experience some fun here as well.

We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

The revamped bus was the coziest rainy day refuge. I was sad the rain kept me from fully exploring and appreciating the fantastical campgrounds. But it was so easy to be completely content at the bus-turned-cabin site because of the privacy and having everything you need for a proper glamp, even in a downpour. All the details are so thoughtful, from the tea kettle to the outdoor compost toilet, the outdoor stringlights to the indoor power outlets (used sparingly on a battery)-- I honestly can't wait to come back and *actually* use the spring water hot tub. Missed opportunity when the universe gave me a surprise puppy to adopt the day of the trip! Gary was incredibly understanding and even invited us to play with his own pups loose on the campgrounds! Koda and I appreciate all the space you made for us, and we will be back very soon!

This is such a special place! The Wanderbus was cozy and quirky and perfect. More than warm enough and Louis the Third is an immaculate toilet. I took advantage of the hot tub both nights and it’s such a great perk. Definitely try the tangerine essential oil stay with it! I came to take pictures and get some quiet reading time and it didn’t disappoint. I would recommend it so highly (as long as you don’t book when I want to come back!)

Gary was so attentive and welcoming! Even though I came during a rainy time, the land was beautiful and whimsical. The staff there were all so accommodating and helped with anything I needed (firewood, the hot tub, heaters). The community kitchen was sooo much fun to use and the shower was amazing! It was fun to walk around and see the bunnies and chickens as well as see how hard the staff work to create more fun amenities for the future. Gary mills the wood himself and you can see how all of the structures are such a labor of love!

Mount Rainier National Park

Enjoy springtime wildflowers along a waterfall hike, or step up to a steep stratovolcano when camping near Mount Rainier National Park. Year-round excitement awaits with warm-weather hiking and biking or winter skiing and snowboarding. For a challenge, climb 14,410 feet to the summit of Mount Rainier for diverse landscapes and epic views. A permit is required, and ice-climbing gear is a must! On-site camping ranges from primitive sites at Mowich Lake to RV camping with water and dump stations. There are no utility hookups.

Olympic National Park

Almost a million acres of environmental beauty await campers exploring Olympic National Park. Hoh Rainforest, Mount Olympus, and Sol Duc Hot Springs are a few of the park’s iconic features. Camp under a canopy of old growth trees, wake up to ocean views, or nestle in near hot springs. With several on-site campgrounds, Olympic National Park offers flush toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and potable water, as well as primitive camping throughout the park. While RVs are welcome, there are no hookups and no generators allowed.

Featuring Deep Lake, a 66-acre body of water, Millersylvania delights visitors with a boat launch, two swimming holes, and a 100-foot dock perfect for summer fun. Campsites, glampsites, cabin rentals, and lakeside cottages make camping easy, with over 90 standard sites, 45 partial hookups, showers, restrooms, and dump stations. Built in the 1930s, Millersylvania is also home to historical sites including rustic kitchen shelters.

When to go

While Lakewood offers camping year-round, the area is known for its short summers and cold, wet winters. Campers will find warmer weather from late June to early September, averaging a high of 78°F and dropping to the mid 50s overnight. Glacial sites can be enjoyed throughout summer, but be prepared for cooler temperatures at high altitudes. Winter campers will experience temperatures in the low 30s and 40s, making cold-weather camping experience a must.
