Sunshine Mountain is a shared 7.5 acre property which includes the RV spot, a vacation rental and host’s home. Back portion of the property is a wooded hiking trail for all guests to enjoy. It is located in the historic Ute Pass region. The property was once owned by Ute Indians who later sold it, at which time it became a Hippie camp and later a family home/ranch. We can’t wait to meet you and help you have the true Colorado experience. You will love the country feel while being walking distance to Woodland Park and have the amenities of 50 amp electric, WiFi, water (not for drinking), picnic table, chairs, mini grill, hammock, gray water dump at site, propane fire pit (guests bring their own propane) and access to black water dump if needed. $15 black dump fee for bookings less than 1 week, otherwise 1 free black water dump per week. Camp anywhere on 60 acres. In one direction there are rolling meadow. Another rocky outcropping. Look to the south and you’ll see the BLM land that shares my fence line. If you want access to town you’re there. You choose how you want to feel. In the woods, in the forest, on huge rocks, flat land or turn around and see CR 1 ( 1/4 mile driveway). Forty five minutes west of Colorado Springs, ten miles to Divide for grocers. One half mile to ice, gas, pizza etc. It is first come first serve with the sites. Two that are near trees for large RVs. One up higher works for pull thru trailers. Plenty of room in the pasture. I just got my first negative review referring to it being dry prairie land. Some pictures are from late last summer.. We haven’t had enough rain yet for it to green up. Also it can be windy.

We jokingly named our place Green Acres after the 1960's sitcom. As through blood sweat and tears and a little humor on the side we have transformed it from a junkyard to a small paradise. We do not mean to indicate several acres of green, although there is plenty of room to stretch out, relax and catch an awesome sunset on our 2 acres of land. This listing is not suitable for children under 10 years of age.

Very private in the cabin! And somehow feels remote, while still being right off the road for exploring! A perfect quiet get away with beautiful starry nights. Has a very well equipped outdoor kitchen area and even included some extra blankets inside for us!! Thank you for a beautiful, safe, memorable stay!

I travel for work in my small camper and stay here every now and then for quick overnight stops. It is always a great place to land. Quiet, peaceful, and calm every time. The operators are consistently responsive and kind, which I really appreciate. I am very grateful for this spot.

Perfect spot for the night. You’re literally in front of Red Rock Canyon, nice surprise to wake up to! Felt safe. There was a street light on all night, but didn’t bother us too much with blackout curtains. Would recommend.

It was a great place to sleep for the night. Definitely felt safe. I travel with my dog who is alert at every noise. I was aware of the tour busses on the weekends…apparently my dog was not. They were great! If you are a person who travels alone this is an awesome place to stay for a wonderful price. If we are coming through again I will absolutely pick this spot.

This is a warm and welcoming hostel in a motel setting. Great communal spaces. Happy, friendly staff and guests. What's not to love? For Van Campers, there are a few small spaces that can be a tight fit to squeeze into if you're over 20' long.

We absolutely loved it here! We cannot wait to go back next year. Easy back-in RV spot. Dan met us when we arrived and even helped us set up our pop-up. Our kids loved Dan and all the cool things he had around his property to show them. The wildlife was plentiful!

This is one of the most beautiful camp sites we have been to this year. Tim is great to work with and we appreciate him for sharing this property with us. If you get a chance to book, I would highly suggest you do. Spending time fishing with my young grandaughter was the best part of our trip. and the fishing was excellent. I also loved being able to take my dogs without any worries. Just a beautiful property.

Very quiet, secluded, and away from people camp. 8800’ elevation, water, and fun hosts who host a communal campfire each night. Very dog friendly, abcs a fun return to our earlier tent camping days.

Absolutely loved this spot! The small cabin is very comfortable & has everything you need in regard to chairs, cookware, etc. My only advice would be to be sure to know your way out because Google maps got me there easily but there’s no cell service so be sure to remember your way back. Beautiful lake & Tim was so helpful!

Where to go
Woodland Park Town Center
Several RV parks are located right in Woodland Park, but for those looking to camp a bit closer to nature, the South Meadow Campground is located in the Pike National Forest just a few minutes outside of town. Other popular camping options close to Woodland Park include the Meadow Ridge Campground and the campgrounds at the Rampart Reservoir.
Colorado Springs
Colorado’s second largest city, Colorado Springs, is just 30 minutes southeast of Woodland Park. Colorado Springs is home to the Garden of the Gods, a gorgeous landscape of red rock towers and balanced rocks. It’s one of the state’s most visited natural attractions, and hiking, biking, and horseback riding are popular ways to explore the park.
Cripple Creek
Cripple Creek is a historic old mining town 25 miles south of Woodland Park. It’s downtown area has maintained much of its old western character and is lined with saloons, casinos, and historic buildings like the old jail. A visit to Cripple Creek is like stepping back into the days of the gold rush and tours are offered of area mines.
When to go
Considering Woodland Park’s high elevation, summer is the best time for camping, hiking, and biking adventures. Many of the high elevation campgrounds in Pike National Forest are only open from Memorial Day to just after Labor Day weekend. Woodland Park is also wonderful in fall. The Pikes Peak area puts on some of the best fall color shows in Colorado and colors often peak by early October. Some area campgrounds such as the one at Mueller State Park remain open year-round.
Know before you go
- Woodland Park has grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and several outdoor gear and fly fishing shops.
- There are plenty of family-friendly activities in Woodland Park including the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center and the nearby Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center.
- Many of the national forest campgrounds surrounding Woodland Park take reservations. Book ahead of time if you plan to camp on a weekend.
- In addition to tent and RV sites, Mueller State Park also has cabins available for rent.
