You will find happiness, peace, the sound of the winds in 3000 year old trees, alpine streams tricking through ancient untouched forests, great horned owls and moose calling into the night, coyote echoing at sunset signaling night approaching, the warm smell of pine and summer grasses, touching the warm rocks next to the stream while you listen to the birds and crickets. I could go on and on, these are the things I see when I close my eyes and think of this place.
This site sits at the base of (2) 14ers. in thee middle of a sunken meadow. This is the most beautiful and secluded camping experience you will experience in Colorado. There are miles of 4x4 and atv trails. There are countless hiking trails for day and short nature hikes. Above the site sits bristlecone pines that have appeared in ansel adams prints and are absolutely amazing. The sites sit on 160 private acres which borders national forest.
There is a small a-frame tent that's insulated with big windows, locking door, skylight, solar for charging electronics, and a full size bed. The cabin is roughly the size of the full size mattress but seems bigger because of the a-frame roof. Its warm and cozy and keeps the critters and animals out, so you feel safe and comfortable.
There are lots of amenities on site. There is a picnic table, 10'x12' waterproof awning and wood deck. There is a bbq, bear box, huge stone fire pit and bucket toilet.
The road into the site was graded last year but still has small potholes typical of a Colorado county road, most low-profile cars will do fine. If you have a rv or camper, the turn around is limited, no tow behind campers or vehicles over 20'

There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent. Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town. Adjacent to the Mineral Belt Trail and easy access to East Side trail system.
We live in a house on the property with our 3 year old son, and Buddy the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay. He loves leftover campfire hot dogs.
Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21)

Oh and quite possibly our rooster crowing ;) Hike into the National Forest off the property. Guided hikes can also be arranged for an additional fee. Or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet!
Plenty of other hiking trails nearby, creeks and Slaughterhouse Gulch for those that love a good 4WD adventure.
A propane fire-pit will be provided for you so you can still enjoy a nice campfire. A propane heater is also available for chilly nights or winter camping. The Greenhouse also includes a camp stove, a percolator for making coffee or tea, minimal cookware and silverware. Potable water will be provided along with coffee and tea. Fresh eggs from our chickens can also be made available upon request for a small fee.
Cots and a hammock are available for use in the Greenhouse, but you will have to bring your own sleeping mats, sleeping bags and pillows. Sleeping mats and sleeping bags on the floor are also an option if you choose. Picnic tables are close to the Greenhouse for enjoying time outdoors.
The Glamping in the Aspens Tent has a wood burning stove in it that will be available starting later season 2024. Firewood for the wood stove will be provided for you. Just outside the tent is a picnic table with BBQ grill and propane fire pit. There is a porch area with outdoor kitchen and a queen sized bed inside the tent. A comfy dog bed is also included.
A composting toilet is available for use. No showers currently available (Bath House coming soon).
Well behaved dogs are allowed, however, they must be on a leash or under voice command.
There are 2 dogs that live on the property as well as chickens, turkeys, and a cat. All will be contained so as not to disturb (except for the occasional rooster crow).

**4WD or higher clearance AWD vehicles can make it up to the property. We can also provide shuttle service in one of our 4WD vehicles at no additional charge. Either way, we will meet and greet you at the entrance to Deer Creek Campground :)**

There are 2 stocked fishing ponds in the neighborhood you're welcome to use. (Stocked in June usually).

A common question we hear involves our location next to Highway 285. When Glen Isle opened in the early 1900s, the highway was a railroad line, and being close to it was a luxury. Guests would arrive with their trunks and walk straight onto the property.
Today, that same route is a busy road. While some campers aren’t bothered by traffic sounds, others may find it disruptive—especially at our riverside sites. We do our best to communicate this clearly and offer alternative campsites farther from the road for a quieter stay.

Gondola Village at Holy Cross is a little sanctuary in the mountains between Vail, Leadville, and Aspen. There is little nearby except for the next door Holy Cross Wilderness, with a lifetime worth of trails, lakes, and peaks to explore -- all only two hours from Denver. Gondola Village at Holy Cross has direct access that many dream of to Colorado's water wilderness, and some of the best backcountry skiing, hiking, scrambling, backpacking, and fly fishing in the Summit Vail Eagle Aspen area.
Our modern alpine cabins are some of the cutest cabins you'll step foot in, complete with a mix of amenities to make your wilderness stay a bit more comfortable.
Gondola Village at Holy Cross is at 11.5k feet above sea level (believed to be the highest altitude Hipcamp in the world). Gondola Village at Holy Cross has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed, Airbnb's OMG! Fund, Arch Digest, and the site of many product shoots. The managers of this property have worked in yurt, ADU, and cabin construction and hospitality for many years and have brought together some of the best Scandinavian and modern design with a mining town aesthetic.
The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21)

Enjoy a unique private mountain getaway! Stay in our Off-Grid Greenhouse. Sleep amongst the plants and under the stars! Or enjoy a luxurious stay in the Aspens in our Glamping Tent.
Located on a private, forested area of our modern, Off-Grid working homestead. This site offers you mountaintop views, plenty of aspens as well as pine trees and abundant wildlife passing through.
Leave the noise of the city behind and wake up to birds singing, hummingbirds buzzing by and potentially a moose or deer sighting. Oh and quite possibly our rooster crowing ;) Hike into the National Forest off the property. Guided hikes can also be arranged for an additional fee. Or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet!
Plenty of other hiking trails nearby, creeks and Slaughterhouse Gulch for those that love a good 4WD adventure.
A propane fire-pit will be provided for you so you can still enjoy a nice campfire. A propane heater is also available for chilly nights or winter camping. The Greenhouse also includes a camp stove, a percolator for making coffee or tea, minimal cookware and silverware. Potable water will be provided along with coffee and tea. Fresh eggs from our chickens can also be made available upon request for a small fee.
Cots and a hammock are available for use in the Greenhouse, but you will have to bring your own sleeping mats, sleeping bags and pillows. Sleeping mats and sleeping bags on the floor are also an option if you choose. Picnic tables are close to the Greenhouse for enjoying time outdoors.
The Glamping in the Aspens Tent has a wood burning stove in it that will be available starting later season 2024. Firewood for the wood stove will be provided for you. Just outside the tent is a picnic table with BBQ grill and propane fire pit. There is a porch area with outdoor kitchen and a queen sized bed inside the tent. A comfy dog bed is also included.
A composting toilet is available for use. No showers currently available (Bath House coming soon).
Well behaved dogs are allowed, however, they must be on a leash or under voice command.
There are 2 dogs that live on the property as well as chickens, turkeys, and a cat. All will be contained so as not to disturb (except for the occasional rooster crow).

**4WD or higher clearance AWD vehicles can make it up to the property. We can also provide shuttle service in one of our 4WD vehicles at no additional charge. Either way, we will meet and greet you at the entrance to Deer Creek Campground :)**

We purchased this land as a campsite for family outings.
We have 2 kids and 2 dogs that love running through the aspens, cedars, and pines.
There are 2 stocked fishing ponds in the neighborhood you're welcome to use. (Stocked in June usually).
Fire pit onsite as long asthe county doesn't have any fire restrictions.
You're welcome to drive onto the property to unload your camp gear but please park on the cul-de-sac.

• A designated community fire ring, approved by the fire department, which may be used when fire restrictions are not in place.
• Campers may bring propane fire rings and propane cooking gear.

🚗 Highway Proximity – A Historic Trade-Off
A common question we hear involves our location next to Highway 285. When Glen Isle opened in the early 1900s, the highway was a railroad line, and being close to it was a luxury. Guests would arrive with their trunks and walk straight onto the property.
Today, that same route is a busy road. While some campers aren’t bothered by traffic sounds, others may find it disruptive—especially at our riverside sites. We do our best to communicate this clearly and offer alternative campsites farther from the road for a quieter stay.

The first time I saw this beautiful heavily wooded 12-acre property, I immediately put in an offer. That was 18 years ago. We had a blast at Glen Isle. Everything from camping to fishing to disc golf everything was fantastic. Hosts were amazing and the campsite was private and riverside. A great close getaway and a few days in paradise. Cute horses and donkeys as well. Best campsite we have been to all year. It’s the total package!

Myself and a few friends tent camped here and really enjoyed it! Camp site has ample trees for tying up a hammok and spots for tents. Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

We had a lovely (but challenging, carrying a toddler) hike up and stay at Cabin #2. The cabin was quaint, clean and more well-appointed than expected (I guess we didn't need to pack a hatchet?). It was hovering around freezing when we arrived, but we got the stove lit and got the space up into the 50s for a comfortable night. Sunrise was lovely from bed and we finished our trip with a hike up to the lake in the morning before descending to the car.

4 nights at Laughing Valley Retreat
We had an awesome time at the Laughing Valley Ranch! Bill showed us around and we loved looking at the animals, he’s a very knowledgeable and kind man. The campsite was an a gorgeous outlook that made for fantastic views. We are birders, so loved all of the cool birds around. Joe also made our stay super easy and comfortable! He gave us rides to the site, made sure we had wood and water, and showed us some cool spots around the land. Big shoutout to Joe! Overall we really enjoyed our time here, great place to get away and take in the mountain view’s for a couple of days, while not being super far from Denver and the cute town of Idaho Springs. Recommend this spot for any hiking, camping, or overall nature lovers.

We had a fantastic experience there the weather was decent and a little bit cold at night if you stay down next to the river you should expect it to be about 10 to 15 degrees colder than the rest of the place because of the water. There were plenty of trees to hang your hammock on and plenty of space to put up a tent you could even go back into a more secluded area that was up against The Rock face back behind trees if you wanted. We had a great time we walked around we got a tour of the lodge which was really cool. And we went to the Sasquatch Outpost and Bailey as well several other places that were open it was really great time. We also went for a hike on the pain gulch trail which was very pretty very good views. I would highly recommend camping at this campground the only downside was the road traffic because of the highway right there could be a little loud at times but it didn't interfere with sleeping or anything else.

This place was beautifully remote, yet accessible enough that we could get there without four-wheel drive. The stars at night were just incredible. Our hosts greeted us when we arrived, and there was a space available just for us at the top of the hill. We would probably have seen other campers, had we not been the only ones.

Absolutely gorgeous place if you need/want to disconnect and truly enjoy some peace and quiet. The huge fire pit with log seats, hanging grill and picnic table was great and we appreciated the thoughtful wood pieces left behind to use for the campfire.

We had a fantastic stay at Laughing Valley a few weeks ago. The tent, campsite and amenities were impressive, making our experience comfortable and enjoyable. What truly stood out was our engagement with Joe, who took us on a tour and showed us all the cool ranch animals — his enthusiasm and kindness made the visit memorable. When a storm was approaching, Joe went above and beyond to ensure our tent was securely latched and that we felt safe and comfortable. Great spot very high up on the mtn so you get really good views from the campsite. Very secluded from other campsites. Very rocky though so be sure to bring sleeping pads if you decide to tent camp. We had a great time up there.

Chantelle was a wonderful hostess. She went above and beyond to assure we had a comfortable experience at the camp. We got in a bit late and it started raining so she offered we could stay either in the tipi tent or the tiny house. We opted for the latter, very grateful. The camp has everything you need- firewood with a pit and a roasting rack, water, plenty of tables and benches. Bear boxes at every site. There is wi-fi at the common area and fun books and games in the tiny house. We’d gladly come back.
