Island Lake Campground
Description
May the forest be with you! One of the few campgrounds in Grand Mesa National Forest not located on the lake, Island Lake Campground goers are instead privy to mature spruce, sweeping panoramas of the Grand Valley, and its many sparkling, light sabre sapphire blue lakes below. More than 3,000 miles of trails provide zigzagging access to all of the above, and moreover, six mountain peaks upwards of 14,000 feet! The sites themselves are fairly crunchy with basic amenities, but the aesthetic value is through the roof! Backdropped by jagged peaks, plateaus, and the winding Mesa River, you can’t help but snap at least one selfie. We’re not judging you.
