Juniper Springs Recreation Area and Campground
Description
Juniper Springs Recreation Area has been enchanting nature lovers with its limestone-filtered spring waters and subtropical forest setting since the 1930s, when the Civilian Conservation Corps built out the park’s campground and swimming area, Mill House. Plunging into the green-and-turquoise spring-fed pool is a must when visiting. The Juniper Springs Recreation Area Campground, which features 79 tent and RV sites shaded by live oaks and palm trees, is within walking distance of the pool. Campsites have picnic tables and fire pits, as well as access to flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. A concessionaire sells snacks and camping supplies near the pools, or you can resupply in Ocala just 35 minutes away.
Tips for Snagging a Campsite Reservation
When to Go
Due to its Central Florida location and subtropical climate, Juniper Springs camping is excellent in the fall, winter, and spring. Summers are also beautiful, but tent campers beware that summers bring high temperatures in the 90s, humidity, and the potential for thunderstorms and rain showers. Some park services and concessions are seasonal. For current information on park services, contact Adventure Ocala, the park service operator, at (352) 625-3147.
