Rock Island Campground
Description
To truly get away from it all, you’ve got to head out to Rock Island State Park in the massive Lake Michigan. Why, you ask? Well, for starters, you’ll not find a single car on the island. You’re at the mercy of the local ferry boat, which will drop you and your gear and leave you to the primitive campground, Survivor style. Set up camp and set your watch to island time. Explore miles of trails, 2,000 feet of sandy beach, and Wisconsin’s oldest lighthouse. Then sleep under a starry sky, where the only sounds you’ll hear are the waves lapping on the shore.
