Bay View Campground
Description
We won’t promise you can see Russia from Bay View State Park, but on a clear day, you can catch a glimpse of the Olympic Mountains, Mount Rainier and the San Juan Islands! Lining the 1,285-ft Padilla Bay saltwater shoreline, the campground has 46 tent spaces, 30 utility spaces, six cabins, two restrooms, and six showers. Sites are divided into three sections, and here’s the scoop: Sites 1-9 offer killer views but are for RVs only (viva la #vanlife), 10-30 face a 1.5-acre grassy lawn, perfect for tikes, and 31-76 have a parking place, stove, picnic table, and space to pitch a tent.
If you’re just stopping in without gear, Bay View offers six cabins set among Douglas Fir trees with views of Padilla Bay and the San Juan Islands. Wander seconds from your site to find boating, swimming, sailboarding, beachfront fire pits and a volleyball field, but watch out, looks can be deceiving--Padilla Bay is heavily influenced by tidal action and becomes a large mud flat during low tides.
