Tent Site #1
The two sites are great, well maintained. The porta john was super clean, and had a hand wash station. The creek was awesome, I snorkeled it all weekend!
The little Brown Dog is super sweet.
Very close to Salem, Dixie Caverns, Roanoke.
Tent Site #1
See review for Tent site #2; we booked both sites for the same weekend. They are right next to each other and we used both spaces. Site #1 has more shade than site #2, and slightly more road visibility (at least in late May); both are flat and easy access to porta potty, water, firewood, etc. Site #1 had a picnic table, compared to site #2's square table with chairs.
Our kids had lots of fun (zipline, creek, nice dogs, trampoline!) and definitely want to stay here again. For adults looking to get away, just know it is not an isolated site, and if you had both sites booked by different people, you would be very close to each other. The tent sites and creek are quite close to a road (separated by the creek, but road is somewhat visible and audible); it's not super busy, but definitely has some traffic. This is a lived on property; there are neighboring homes, and the property has multiple eclectic buildings/RV/bus, some of which are occupied. Nice people, neat place, but not a "get away to pure nature" feel, if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise, it's nicely set up and maintained well, lots of things for kids to do, and pretty areas to relax by the creek. The hosts were welcoming and thoughtful, attentive on arrival (and departure - we packed up in a rush as a big storm came up), but also respectful of our space.
Tent Site #2
The hosts did a nice job setting this site up for campers. There was a maintained porta potty, which they had taken the time to wipe down/stock with TP, as well as a nice hand washing station next to it. They also had a water cooler (with actually cold water) and bundle of (dry!) firewood, with extra available for purchase if we had needed it. They had weed-whacked several paths to the creek, and the site had been recently mowed. Minimal poison ivy (just at edges). Each site had a table in good condition and a firepit. Our kids loved the zipline, trampoline, and mini cornhole set, and the creek had multiple wonderful spots to play (or swim). Maya was responsive when booking, and Jeremy was friendly and met us shortly after arrival to share information about the sites, introduce us to their sweet dogs, and suggest a hiking trail nearby. He was very considerate (ex. mentioned about asking neighbor to turn down music before bedtime, reminding about tick checks, asking if we wanted to meet dogs and not assuming, checking on us when a storm came up).
Our kids definitely want to stay here again. For adults looking to get away, just know it is not an isolated site, it's a lived on property. The tent sites and creek are quite close to a road (separated by the creek, but road is somewhat visible and audible); it's not super busy, but definitely has some traffic. The River of life
Such an amazing spot off of the beaten path. The creek next to the campsite sets the tone for a relaxing evening. Instructions provided were easy to follow to get to the site. Definitely on my list to stay again in the future.

Was a beautiful place to pitch a tent! The creek running through made the best sounds to fall asleep to!

Tent Site #2
What a lovely place to camp! I loved the eclectic housing on the property. I loved the peaceful setting and walk to the rock outcropping. Such a beautiful area, I wouldn’t have traveled in this area if not for the hip camp booking. I would definitely come back again!
