In a remote valley, along the banks of Craig's Creek, just north of Roanoke VA, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from Craig Creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - no houses or roads in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.

The creek is lovely and the mountain views are beautiful. The property is a little smaller than I pictured based on the photos and the campsites are not far from the road. You can see and hear the road. Also, PLEASE NOTE there are no quiet hours at this Hipcamp….. an attractive policy to those that like to bring speakers camping and play loud music the whole time. This was the case when we were there, the next campsite over from us essentially played music 24 hours a day. This was hard…. Far from the peaceful weekend in the outdoors we were looking for. Ned was very friendly and has a lot of knowledge about the area.

Ned was a perfect host; he gave perfect directions and met us in the driveway to direct us to our site. The site was flat and mowed. it was perfectly quiet for the night. there was firewood at the site for us to use, idk if Ned put it there or the last camper left it, but it was a nice surprise. HIs provided outhouses were a bit scarry to us, so we just popped up our own tent & porta potty. we only stayed the night because it was so close to the hike we were doing the following day. The Dragons Tooth. Will definitely stay again when we plan to do the other hikes in his area.

The property was beautiful. Plenty of space for yourself. Perfect getaway for a weekend with friends. Already booked the same time next year.

Spent one night car camping at Ned’s property. It’s a lovely plot nestled between the mountains and Ned was working out in the front, greeting me warmly. I primarily used my car for set up so I didn’t really use the campsite extensively especially with early sunsets, but the fire ring and picnic table were very clean and Ned has many resources upon request to help you have a comfortable time. I appreciated his knowledge on the area and hope to return to the Blue Ridge area another time.

Creekside Woods
Excellent except for bathroom
I enjoyed this stay. The campsite itself was great. There is plenty of privacy and the scenery is outstanding. A creek runs along the back edge of the site. I have Verizon and there was no internet available at the site. However, we were given permission to connect to the internet near the host (Neds) house. The only reason I would hesitate to recommend this site to someone is the bathroom situation. The portable toilet near our site was disgusting and long overdue to be emptied. I opted to go the way of the bear.

A truly beautiful piece of land to spend 4 nights on. Ned was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The picnic table, fire pit, and string lights were a very nice touch. The campsite was extremely spacious, and even though there were other people camping on the property, it felt very much like our own private space. The creek and swimming hole area were so beautiful, we spent the first half of one of our days just stomping around the property. Also it is less than a ten minute drive from the trailheads of dragons tooth and mcaffees knob which was very convenient. Plus a lovely 30ish min drive through the mountains into Roanoke was easily doable. 10/10 recommend, thanks for sharing your space Ned!
