Swift Creek Campground
Description
Yellowstone Canyon is a downright fabulous camping option, especially when compared to some of the busier spots in the area. Just keep driving down the forest road, past other campgrounds, and you’ll eventually reach the Swift Creek Campground. Given the journey it takes to get there, you know it’s gonna be good. There’s even a pretty waterfall closeby! This campground is quite near to the border of the High Uinta Wilderness Area, where hiking nirvana awaits. It also gets hikers into the higher Yellowstone drainage, via a trailhead that leads to Kings Peak, along a sampling of delightful high alpine lakes (are you brave enough to take a dip? Brr!). And, the biggest bonus to this trailhead? The crowds aren’t as crazy!
