Call 843-697-2075 for more information *** The Bishop Jerdan Conference Center is owned by the Reformed Episcopal Church Diocese of the Southeast. Nature Adventures Outfitters has partnered with the Church Diocese to manage the land. This land once was a village for the Sewee Native Americans that lived along the waterfront from Buck Hall Recreation Area up along Awendaw Creek. During the Plantation era it was a part of Walnut Grove Plantation owned by the Doar Family. Walnut Grove Plantation was a working plantation until the early 1900's. The Reformed Episcopal Church aquired it in 1960's. The waterfront camping area used to house a Conference Center and Chapel, however, in 1989 Hurricane Hugo destroyed the buildings on the waterfront (all the stone picnic tables, basketball court, and swings survived the storm). The current Conference Center was build in the 1990's.

Site 6 Waterfront Site
We love camping at the waterfront sites! We were the only people there the first evening we stayed. We watched the sunrise over the intercoastal waterway and saw lots of wildlife. The facilities were clean and the campsites are in good condition. We can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous location, but it was just too buggy for us to enjoy. We were covered in mosquito bites within minutes. I’m not exaggerating. If you have someway to beat the mosquitoes, you’ll be very happy camping here.

Dramatic view of intracoastal river traffic from waterside campsite. Almost no bugs during our visit in May. Friendly quiet campground.

Great and quiet place. The only negative is that the private property next to the site is being renovated and can get loud during the day but overall great visit.
