Rich in history, this area is home to Hell's Canyon (the deepest gorge in North America), the amazing Eagle Cap Wilderness (America's Little Switzerland), lots of mining history (check out the adjacent ghost town of Cornucopia!) as well as great fishing (Brownless Reservoir, Powder River, Pine Creek and lots of high alpine lakes), museums, the Oregon Trail (make time for the Interpretive Center and also the Museum!). Our "Pack Station" (the location from which day rides and pack trips start) has been on-site since the 40's. The lodge and cabins are relatively new (2008-2010), but sit on the site of an old mine and are adjacent to the Cornucopia Mine and ghost town.

Highly Recommend
We loved the Jack of Diamond cabin for our family of 4. Very comfortable - like a bed and breakfast but with a cabin flair. The cabin was located in a private area but in walking distance to the lodge. We loved going to the lodge to have meals, play cribbage, read or even sit on the back deck to hang out and have a beverage. Great family time! While a homemade hot breakfast is included, highly recommend making dinner reservations at the lodge (not much in town open on the days of our visit). Not only was dinner at the lodge convenient, but also very delicious with bread, salad, entree and homemade dessert each evening. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Can't say enough about the new managers Roger and April who were so personable and friendly and the staff was very helpful.

Not only would I recommend Cornucopia Lodge to my friends and family, I already have! In fact, I'd recommend it to complete strangers. This place is amazing if you're looking to get away from it all.

Cozy Cabin Getaway
Cornucopia Lodge was a beautiful getaway! We stayed in the “Last Chance” cabin, it was quaint and cozy. The property offered stunning views of the mountains as well as hiking trails and clear views of the night sky for a spectacular look at the stars. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Coffee always on brew at the lodge and a delicious breakfast in the morning!
