We found this beautiful secluded property in 2003 and have built a small cabin with outdoor kitchen facilities, an outdoor shower, and a toilet. We are located on the south shore of Manitoulin Island facing a beautiful endless view of water and sky. There is a Provincial Park next door that offers hiking trails and wonderful kayaking or canoeing adventures. It is a private, quiet, and relaxing area only 45 minutes away from the closest town. There are beautiful areas you can explore via kayak, canoe, mountain biking, or by hiking in. You can pitch a hammock under large trees if you like to simply relax. There are indigenous reserves nearby that offer the world's largest drum and dream catcher. Locals are friendly and the area is quiet and peaceful. If you time it right you may find mushrooms, or wild strawberries and raspberries. There is a local diner 30 minutes away or you can book breakfast or brunch with us on site. The local community hall also offers pancake breakfasts, a local market, and a nearby fishery provides fresh fish to purchase if your fishing trip was not successful. All 20-40 min away.  We support Manitoulin Island therefore we are donating 20% of our Hipcamp profits to Manitoulin Family Resource Centre and to the Friends of Misery Bay Park.

Gorgeous Place and Fantastic Hosts
This is a campsite well worth the drive! The property and surrounding area is beautiful. The water is perfect and you have a great view of the sunset and stars. We had everything we needed and could have spent all day chatting with Joe and Annie as they are such lovely people and phenomenal hosts! The breakfast in their unique and cozy outdoor kitchen was delicious and a great addition to our trip. I highly recommend this camp!

Epic Manitoulin Experience ***** !
Amazing site! Gorgeous landscape. Annie and Joe were so very welcoming, and helpful with a couple of problems we had with our gear. Unique alvar rock lakefront with spectacular sunsets, beachcombing, lake dips, paddling. Great bonfire pit. Really convenient outhouse and non-potable water resevoire for washings. Just an epic place!

Magical amazing place!
Annie and Joe’s place is remarkable. We fell in love with the Misery Bay Area many years ago and we’re so happy to come back and camp there. The landscape is magical. It’s wonderful to sleep and hear the waves. Annie and Joe are wonderful hosts, so communicative and thoughtful and they share part of their proceeds with meaningful local Manitoulin charities. We cannot wait to come back. Thank you so much.

Remote getaway on Lake Huron!
An adventure awaits you in this remote off the grid location! Definitely ensure you have a Jeep or a 4x4 or vehicle capable of handling a rugged terrain. 8km I’m off of the main highway this oasis was well worth the adventure to access! It had rained non-stop for days prior to our arrival so the puddles were well beyond our comfort zone with our 1990 VW Westy initially! Annie & Joe have an awesome location unlike most other spots you’ll get to enjoy! Friendly, accommodating hosts who also prepared a fabulous breakfast for us! This location is peaceful and offered amazing sunsets and direct access to Lake Huron! Great new latrine and water supply for dishes was a real treat! Great fire pit to enjoy campfires and admire the stars! Loved our stay so much we extended our stay an additional night! We’ll be back again and look forward to seeing Annie & Joe!

A great weekend in the Island
This was a really incredible campsite! From the main road, It's a bumpy bush road into the site. We were fine in our F150 but you would not do well in a car. We camped in our tent trailer and used a camp toilet and generator for comfort. No wifi but thats the point! It's definitely a space to go and disconnect and recharge. The sound and sites of Lake Huron are beautiful. I've never seen stars so beautiful and clear and ive been to a few different countries and remote regions. The metor activity is remarkable. The site is wonderful but not suited to small children (under 6) due to rocky surfaces. The shore area is pefect if you want to kayak but very slippery for walking in. The hosts are absolutely fantastic and are so kind. They are genuine, decent people and care about the land and their guests. We will definitely go back just not with our kids. We truly felt a sense of calm and being recharged when we left. It feels like you're on the edge of the earth and walking on the moon all at the same time!!!
