Barnyard campsite
Meant to be
Gail, his family, and his farm were more than welcoming despite a stressful travel day. It seemed like everything was going wrong for my girlfriend and I, booking a campsite two hours from where we meant to stay for symphony in the flint hills. In a panic, we booked Gail’s site so we’d have somewhere to stay despite missing the event. Driving up to his beautiful land, free range chickens, pigs, geese, cows, pheasants, and cats galore immediately told us we were where we were meant to be. Somehow, we forgot our stakes, but Gail helped us improvise with some of his fence posts. When a storm came, we were saved by the house less than 100 feet from our tent, and got some sleep on a comfy couch. In the morning, we we had waffles, eggs, and coffee with the richest butter and cream while we got to know Gail and his wife. Later, we explored the property, meeting cows, sheep, a joyful Great Pyrenees, and more. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Despite everything that went wrong (due to our own poor planning), I am so grateful fate led us to Gail’s.

Peninsula on the Fish Pond
Cool property and great host. Also, ordered steaks to cook at out camp. They delivered them as well as firewood when we got there. Had a great time.

Camp site in the Orchard
Tent camping at the orchard was exactly what we were looking for. Quite and peaceful. Easy to find and Gail was very friendly. If I had to be nitpicky, I would say that the campsite itself was overgrown. Other than that, it was perfect. Will say again.
