Apalachicola National Forest is a great place to escape to for a night or two if you live in or near Tallahassee (it’s a really short drive west).

You’re able to choose between both developed and dispersed camping opportunities—only the developed sites have fees. If you choose to go with one of the many developed campgrounds here, know that there are no hook ups for RVs and all sites are first-come first-serve. Camping is allowed anywhere in the forest for up to 14 days (in a 30 day period) except during hunting season, during which you’ll need to stick to the primitive hunt camps. As you plan your visit, please check out the official campground webpage on the Forest Service website to find information on maps, alerts and notices, and any necessary fees and permits.
