Colter Bay Campground is a wooded wonder on the shores of Jackson Lake.

There’s plenty of roomy, reservable spots for RV’s, but tent campers are first-come, first-served. We hear this shady, rustic campground rarely fills up, and spots are usually still available late into the afternoon. Hop on over to the visitors center from camp to plan your day’s excursions, or hit up the grocery store for afternoon ice cream. With fire pits, picnic tables, and nearby restrooms and pay showers, you’ll have all you need right inside the park to make the most of your Grand Teton adventure.

**CAUTION STAFF STEALS FROM CAMPS*****CAUTION STAFF STEALS FROM CAMPS*** Dropped off my cooler at my campground in a bear box. Came back from hike and my cooler packed with food for week was stolen out of bear box. Asked nearby campers who witnessed staff taking cooler. Contacted security/ staff and was brushed off. Got local police involved and the next day cooler was returned empty. Don’t make the same mistake we did. Always lock your stuff up at this campsite and do not trust the staff/ security. Thank you colter bay staff for ruining our trip.

This is a great campground. My daughter and I camped in a campervan this past week (June 2020) and Coulter bay was a favorite. Honestly I wasn't expecting much but the sites were excellent. Clean bathrooms and great staff. If you are tent or small trailer try to get in the I loop as it is a 2 minute walk to Lake Jackson. Pleasently suprised by this. It is the closest open campground in Northern Teton (Lizard creek was closed).

Portions of this very large campground are adjacent to the shore of Jackson Lake so it's easy to access and hike the Lakeshore Trail (2 mile loop trail). The hike affords views of the mountains with a stunning lake in the forefront. Jackson Lake has a swimming area and even a marina; both of which we haven’t yet experienced in a national park before. As a result, the park has almost a resort town feel with all the swimming and boating.

We were uncertain about the nightly temperatures here, because I remembered freezing as a child. So we stayed in their tent cabins, which have a built in wood burning stove. These were very nice and I would recommend them if cold nights are not your thing. Do keep in mind that once the fire goes out, that it will be cold, so still bring your warmest sleeping bags. The bathrooms were perfectly acceptable and had dishwashing sinks. Colter Bay Village has just about every convenience you could want. They have a post office, showers, laundry, grocery, and 2 restaurants...one casual and one fancier. Due to all the wildfires in the northwest, out of the 4 days we were there, we could only see the mountains for about 4 hours, unless we were hiking inside them such as Cascade Canyon. Highly recommend Cascade Canyon for hiking!

Bring bug spray during the summer, as the mosquitoes are giant and aggressive, but the views and adventure is worth it! I highly recommended renting a canoe or kayak for a few hours and visiting some of the many islands on Jackson Lake.

Take the path from the campground to the lake and enjoy your morning coffee with the sunrise.

This is hands down the most fun, beautiful, perfectly-placed campsight I have ever been to. Enjoyed my morning hike to the crystal clear water to take a freezing bath and was able to set up the most enjoyable hammock/tent/breakfast table in all the camping lands. I will be back very soon. Also cannot fail to mention that the bathroom facilities are great and proximity to Jackson is nice if you feel like braving the town.

Jackson Lake shore is rocky, be sure to bring your shoes when you go to the beach!
