Private undeveloped 40 acre parcel bordered by a trout stream, a forest service paved road (which is an ATV route), and other unoccupied parcels. The Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest surrounds this little section of private lands making this spot a great access point for immediate hiking, biking, fishing (trout stream on the property), wild foraging, site-seeing, off-road exploration, bird watching, wildlife viewing, and star gazing. Lots of wildlife there--bear lumber through the adjacent swamp, wolves pictured on neighbor's game cam, fox often den on the property, whippoorwills (endangered species) fly and sing at night, turkeys nest there, grouse drum for mates, and deer with their fawns just wander through. The property has good berry picking in late summer, blueberries on the south side and blackberries border the field. Open field area will easily accommodate large group of trailers or RVS. Both the upper and lower areas are mowed, so flat and lush grass for tents throughout. A jeep trail circles the property, so easy access to the whole 40. Amazing star gazing spot, too. No light pollution makes for perfect Milky Way shows. The river is from 16 to 20 inches deep off the lower level shore (and about 18 feet wide), but it gets too shallow to canoe over the gravel beds and too deep in holes and truncated areas to allow small children to explore downstream unattended. Still a great spot to wash off, wade, cool off, and catch a nice brooky! Some German Browns in there, but best to fish those at night. The forest roads leading away from the property are amazing, stunning maple forests, small creeks, bridges, jeep trails, and plenty of areas to float or kayak the rivers. If you like ATV riding, this is a great spot, right off the trail and plenty of room to park your trailers. No formal toilet, so bring something to contain your waste and bag it up.. Wood--if you bring a chainsaw, you can easily get plenty of hardwood just down the road in the national forest. Three fire rings available, one with an adjustable grill (USFS style) on the lower level, a simple rock ring in upper field and another simple rock pit next to the river. Some noise should be expected--County Hwy A is 150 yards away so you will hear vehicles, and the ATVs do zoom down that forest road on weekends, but not right next to your tent or camper; camping spots are 150 yards in. During bear hunting season, you will hear the bear hounds barking as they pass by in the distance. Nights though, very quite, just wild life sounds. The area has three bars and two have restaurants--The Elvoy has just drinks, The Habit has drinks and burgers, and The Brule River Tap has a full menu and steaks. ATV gas ($$$), ice, and crawlers are also available at the Habit Bar and Grill. To fill your water jugs, take Hwy A to Hwy 55 and to south for a mile or so. Just north of the old town of Alvin (1 mile north off Hwy 70, and then go another mile north), you will see an artesian spring--great water there! Fill your jugs when you come and then again to take home. Just look for the obvious turn off gravel at the bottom of two hills. Cellular service is ATT with 2 bar reception. Verizon has no reception. Overall, this property is great for people who like forests, streams, foraging, off-roading, hiking, biking, fishing, and primitive camping. Not a good fit for those who need electricity, flush toilets, city water hookups, pavement, handrails, and fenced off wildlife.

My friends and I had the best weekend up at Jane's property. The land stunning and the river was perfect for a mid day soak in the heat. We also got to see the Northern Lights one night! Jane was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. I look forward to camping here again sometime soon!

Car camping with dogs
This site was incredible! I solo car camped here with my two dogs and we had so much fun splashing around in the ice cold, crystal clear river and hiking the property. There were blackberries everywhere and I picked and ate so many! In the morning I was awoken to the serenade of coyotes. The host was great and even offered to mow while I was there which wasn't necessary at all as the site is well maintained with no issues with ticks or mosquitos. The only issue I had was the gnats were somewhat bad and rather annoying, but of all the things to go wrong at a Hipcamp, that's super minor. There was a cooking grate, chairs and multiple picnic tables available. There was a lake right down the road that was crystal clear and had a swimming beach. I loved this site and can't wait to visit again!

Perfectly pleasant

This was an awesome spot with tons of space. Right next to a creek for a cool down and despite quite a bit of rain we stayed comfortable. It's secluded enough to feel tucked away but not so much that you feel like there's nothing to do in the vicinity. We rented out some ATV'S, checked out local bars, and have already been talking about going back next year!

Excellent site! A acre or so of mowed area nestled along a river in the middle of a 40 acre wooded site. Perfect for dogs off leash. The mowed area was appreciated, with quick access to woods just yards away. I camped in a tent, but this site would also be excellent for a family or group site or small/mid self contained RV or camper. There are multiple fire pits spread out in an upper area and lower area (next to river). There is a small "outhouse" facility on the upper lot if needed. The river is about 1-2 feet deep and crystal clear. There are no rapids or rocks per se, so it is very quiet. You occasionally can hear UTVs from a local trail, but is minimal, and is expected anywhere in the Northwoods nowadays. The host, Jane, was great and full of information on where to get firewood and other local nuances. I usually look for primitive/secluded camping and this is definitely one of my new favorite sites. Definitely will be visiting again. This one is a rarity as it is primitive, with a manicured area that can accommodate a drive in camper also.

Private and beautiful property on a little trout stream! Are small group had a blast, there was nicely kept up trails to walk around on throughout the land. And the raspberry and blackberry bushes were every where, alll the fresh berry's to eat while camping! Would definitely go there again and would recommend to anyone that has dogs that want to run around and wants some privacy!
