Enjoying 8 acres of the simpler life with Renee and our children, 15 minutes north of Harrisonburg, Virginia. We love animals, planting gardens, preserving quality food, and hiking and camping in both of the world-famous national parks here. We are 4th year hosts, and immensely gratified to share all we can from this amazing Shenandoah Valley. For many adventure seekers, we have been a gateway to nearby attractions, while many of our guests come here specifically to enjoy a humble get-away in the woods with electricity, great Wi-Fi and a hot shower. There are several petting zoos near us, in case you want a little close-up exposure to some cute farm animals. We are located 45 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. Nathan is an avid hiker and familiar with many fun outdoor attractions in the area. Please reach out to us, should you need any help planning your trip. Some great hikes: Trayfoot Mountain to Blackrock Summit from Port Republic Rd Elliot Knob and High Knob fire towers Fridley's gap swimming hole & overlook. Meems Covered Bridge in Mt. Jackson Wildflower Trail (see a long lost, 500-pound millstone) Blue Ridge Tunnel Hone Quarry falls Reddish Knob Emerald Pond Yellow Rock Cliff and Storybook Trail (Great overlooks!!) High Knob

Has potential, false advertising

Site was advertised as having some privacy, there’s was little to no privacy and the tent site had almost no flat spots to comfortably put a tent down. We accidentally booked the rv site rather than tent sites, but Nathan was kind and let us use the other available site. But unfortunately there was still not much space to put our tent flat without huge branches or rocks jutting out. Found lots of trash on the ground that my puppy kept picking up, which I don’t mind but I can see how that could be a concern for others with dogs.

Yellow Cliffs Mountain

Affordable family owned campground

Nice wooded campground with water, small shower, toilet, and dish washing station. My spot (Yellow Cliffs) was not level, so I didn't sleep well; however I walked around the campground and most of the other spots looked like they were terraced better. Nathan was friendly.

High Knob

High knob

We had a great time at Travelers Meadow! If you are expecting a KOA or an RV resort you will be disappointed. I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews, but glad I gave it a chance! The location does have basic amenities, plus some which were all very well kept. The bath house is not a typical glamping bathroom but they get the job done and were clean! It's a cute DIY set up with hot water! There were mosquitoes and typical aminal noises, which are to be expected- you are outside and surrounded by beautiful farm land. We have a 23ft trailer and a short bed truck. It was a little tight getting into high knob but definitely doable(we did it after dark). The site is on a bit of a hill and we were able to get leveled without issue. If you have a bigger rig or want flatter ground id reccomend going with crabtree falls. There is electricity and water. No sewer at high knob but the host provided dumping options. Definitely prefer this setting over an overcrowded RV park. We would definitely come back!

Dark Hollow Falls

Comfortable and cozy! We spent the weekend here and went hiking and exploring in Shenandoah. Nathan was very helpful and the site had everything we needed— multiple fire pits, a grate for cooking, chairs, etc. P.S. don’t forget to turn on the hot water (the gas cylinder) before getting in the shower ;)

Big Meadow

Nice place, facilities not so much

Overall a decent experience. We camped here last minute to avoid some rain from Hurricane Helene. We mostly picked this because of the bathrooms and shower available. These are not exactly as pictures or described and full of big spiders. We endured two very scary showers face-to-face with what looked like a brown recluse 😳. It was a good place to hunker down for the night!

Crabtree Falls

Nathan has a wonderful place isolated by farmland in the Shenandoah area. He is friendly and helpful as he taught me how to use the portable water tank to drain the septic. It was a fantastic stay!
