Hone Quarry Loop
Mid November stay was good.
Nathan responded well. Easy directions to follow. The bathhouse was good to have. Site was clean and spacious and level. Came in the off season (mid November) so it was very dark early and Nathan still came to meet us and made sure we had our fresh eggs for the morning and firewood for the nights. Wash sink was good to have and extra soap and pots and pans in case you need them. The surroundings weren’t too noisy (actually enjoyed the farm animal noises) and site was pet friendly. The surrounding bare trees still blocked some of the wind (we were in a rooftop tent) so that was nice. Located close to town-perfect for all day outings.

Kennedy Peak
Owners seemingly don’t care…
Upon arrival, the spot we booked nearly a month ago was taken by what looked like a long-term renter. We tried calling the host to no answer. We messaged the host who said “you’re fine at Crabtree”. We ended up parking at Crabtree Falls and were extremely disappointed with the overall scenario at Traveler’s meadow. We originally booked kennedy peak based on reviews and fit for our RV (30ft travel trailer). Crabtree falls was extremely unlevel and unkept. It clearly shows the host does not care about grounds maintenance. Our leveling jack was at the lowest point it could go and the RV rear was like 3ft off the ground and it was STILL unlevel. The grounds grass was very tall, possibly allowing fleas/ticks for your pets. There are random holes you may twist your ankle in and cannot see due to leaves on the ground. There is water & electric hookup, but sewer is one of those portable totes and they request that you contact them to dump. We wanted to dump the night before we left so we can leave early in the morning, but the host was unavailable so we had to drag the full tote uphill twice. Overall, we only booked this spot for its proximity to Shenandoah NP, but will not return. T-Mobile home internet was 180MBPS and cell service was 2 bars of 5GUC. Verizon was 1 bar LTE.

Crabtree Falls
Crab tree falls
Not what I expected based on pictures and write up describing it. Small RV spot right next to two other RV that I believe live there and right off the road, so you could hear cars coming and going. Also very close to neighbors whose dogs bark constantly. There was a bathroom in a closet like shed and similar to an RV toilet and sink and a separate shower right next to it, with a concrete floor. Just feel like it wasn’t accurately described but not out right fraudulent. No one bothered us and no problems other than the ground in our spot not being very level for camper.

High Knob
Loved our spot in the woods
We stayed at high knob on Nathan's land and absolutely loved our experience. He was very laid back and accommodating, provided all the essentials (shower, toilets, sink, trash etc) l. We loved the farm fresh eggs we got and the spot in nature. Would absolutely come back, thank you!

High Knob
Too much bad DIY.
The toilet and shower situation is not good. While they exist in the strictest sense they suffer from more creativity than quality. The shower walls are just bare wood. I don't know how they intend to keep it sanitary. Since the shower and stalls were built from scratch I don't understand why they didn't allow for more room. The RV toilet is a maze of plumbing with no instruction. The compost toilet is just a seat screwed into a cement slab sitting over a recycling bin of waste covered in wood chips. Like the shower, I don't understand how they intend to keep it at all sanitary unless they get in there and scrub the slab. Trash cans were completely full for several days until weekend campers arrived. I don't know what happened but it looks like someone ran into my tent. Dont pay attention to the map they have at the toilets. The instructions for check in say to close the gate but no one bothers. Likely because the gates are not mounted properly. The site I was on would have been very difficult to pitch a tent and sleep on floor because the grade of rock used to attempt to level the site was huge. thankfully I had a cut. Nearby site with what like like a cute bridge has some sort of rigged hand rail/rope that is mounted so poorly it is just a hazard thinking anyone might consider it usable support.
