Settled in the 1600's, the Hensley family cemetery neighbors our property. Some of these Hensley's were forced to relocate when the federal government designated land for the national park. Beyond Hensley Ridge is the town of Elkton, Virginia. In 1812 a man named George Conrad built a general store near where the Elk Run stream intersects with the Shenandoah River. The community that followed was referred to as Conrad's Store until the official incorporation in 1908, when the town became Elkton.

A perfect weekend off the grid
The getaway I knew i needed—nearly non-existent wifi, fresh air, no interaction with people—minimalism at its finest. The property is exactly as described. We took a cooler with nibbles and it was a bit of an adventure getting it up the incline from the car to the yurt so do pack light. The weather was perfect and waking up to the natural sounds of nature was so delightful. Will be back for sure!

This space is adorable and fully outfitted with anything you could need for a trip to the woods. The tent is spacious but extremely cozy, fully furnished with a wood stove, cook top, utensils and many other supplies. The camp shower with hot water was a real plus. We had a wonderful experience here and highly recommend it! The trail from the parking lot to the site is a little steep so anyone with mobility issues would probably have a hard time getting to the site but otherwise a perfect little getaway spot.

Glamping Night
We had a fantastic time at Lindsey’s site! It is a terrific setup and we were surprised at how well provisioned it is; we frankly way overpacked given how well Lindsey has stocked and configured. She was also super prompt helping me figure out the lights, which were pretty obvious once she’d explained. Really happy with the experience and would definitely like to make another trip once the leaves come in; imagine is even more beautiful when fully greened out.

We had a great time staying in the tent! It was very well designed and cozy! Being so close to Shenandoah made adventuring very easy and being close to Elkton and Harrisonburg gave us plenty of options to get food. Checkout El Paso in Elkton if you love Spanish food like us!
