Peaceful, safe, and magical are just a few words guests use to describe our farm.  It's the perfect retreat to relax and reconnect with yourself and nature. Enjoy exploring the farm, spending time with our animals, and stargazing by the fire pit.  We're located in historic Scottsville Virginia (the heart of Virginia’s Monticello Wine Region). Seated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the 25 acre farm is home to many domestic, farm and wild animals. The lush green rolling pastures offer exquisite views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and direct access to the James River. It truly is a serene private paradise. Our farm is on the James River and we encourage guests to enjoy fishing, tubing, kayaking, canoeing or just floating off the beach. We’re 420-friendly! Please let us know if you're bringing dogs or cats.  Our focus at the farm is two-fold. Promote agro-ecotourism and support our sister non-profit, Gentle Moon Conservancy. The mission of Gentle Moon is to provide lifetime care and shelter for animals in-need and inspire environmental stewardship through the power of individual action. We love the beauty and spirit of our farm so much that we want to share it with people who appreciate a peaceful vibe. You'll find that we are very relaxed and inclusive and welcome guests to enjoy the farm for all it has to offer.

Clean, stocked, comfortable, and serene. Thank you so much for making us feel comfortable during our stay. The animals were entertaining…the river was refreshing, and the cottage was exceptional. Would recommend a million times over!

Great trip with the kids :)
The space felt very inviting and larger than in the pictures. We enjoyed all the animals, the walk to the river and had everything we needed as Katie was a very attentive host.

Very thoughtful host!! MANY EXTRAS included : complimentary snacks & river tubes available for use! GREAT condition & exceptionably clean! Fantastic view & fun for kids. MUST LOVE ANIMALS! Expect to wake up at sunrise with roosters & peacocks crowing & cawing! Not a problem for us as we’re early risers. But Do NOT expect to sleep in!! There are earplugs provided in cottage medicine cabinet along with toiletries which helps. Animals are fenced directly beside cottage so it’s an animal lovers dream stay! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment!!

Beautiful tiny house with a lot of love put into it and the grounds and the animals have me wanting to book another trip soon. The animals are so happy and the property and tiny cabin are so clean and my dogs loved the private riverfront where we relaxed for hours. Owners are amazing too and always ready to go the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable.

What a wonderful weekend
My fiancé and I were fortunate enough to spend the weekend near Scottsville,, Virginia At Katie‘s little blue cabin. Having grown up in upstate New ‘s dairy country, I almost forgot how relaxing being around a farm can be. Having have both been battling a flu virus and the stress of work, a weekend at Katie‘s is just what the doctor ordered. The hospitality was exceptional as was the lodging. We can’t wait to book another weekend vacation at Katie‘s.
