Pitch your tent in this beautiful Vermont sugarbush overlooking a bird and frog filled wetland. 16 sites lie along a ridge and meander down to an old sugarhouse accompanied by communal campfire zones (firewood included). Short bike ride to historic downtown Poultney with restaurants, a bookshop and rad bike shop (Analog Cycles). There's pristine swimming holes nearby (2.6mi), 3.6mi to Lake Saint Catherine State Park (swimming, fishing, boating, hot showers), 2.5mi to epic Slate Valley Trails mountain biking, Howe Hill trailhead hiking ( .4mi ), 70+ mile gravel road network begins with a left out of the driveway. Discover a rural Vermont treasure. Camp ground is basic, rustic, no frills. If you like tent camping but want to avoid crowded state parks, this is a good home base to explore the area. The Sugar House and the surrounding buildings are used for bicycle events 3 times a year.

Super Chill Site
A ton of great tent camping sites with great access to fantastic bike trails and Poultney. The communal fire pit was great; we got to meet some other cool folks who were also camping for the weekend. James is a great host and gave us a ton of great suggestions for spending our days in the area. The site had everything we needed!

Tansy Tent Site on the Ridge
Tansy Site at Meadow Lane
Great spot to camp! Sites were all nice and flat, tucked away in the woods or up on a ridge, a short walk from the parking. The sugarhouse basecamp had three big fire rings with benches and chairs. It's a quick trip/pedal to Poultney, where the pub has the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had, on the host's recommendation. Plus the price is reasonable for a place to stay. No complaints at all, and I'll be back again soon.

Chicory Tent Site
Rustic, shady
The sites are rustic, heavily wooded and shady. The sign at drive says Analog, not Meadow Lane, so it's a but confusing. The next property over had a junk car and the area could be more attractive with a little TLC. There are no choices for dispersed camping in the area and this worked well for us in our van.

Chicory Tent Site
James’s Land was a welcome stop during our cycle tour on the Eastern Divide Trail. We actually camped up on the ridge in Nettle and it was perfect for our 2 person tent. It’s a really easy ride into town. Poultney is a great little town and has a well stocked grocery store, but even better it has a fantastic pub, we thoroughly recommend the Poultney pub for great beer and delicious food. James was really quick to communicate with us and really helpful. Whether you’re cycling through or just want a peaceful getaway this is the place to go. Thanks James. We will definitely be back if we ride through your way again.
