Get some quality river time in over at Green River’s campground.

Whether you want to relax in the shade or work on your tan in the sun, there are a variety of campsites with differing cover levels. The river offers up some great scenery, but you’ll also be able to spot Split Mountain off to the north. While you’re in the area, you’ll probably want to spend some time exploring Dinosaur National Monument. You’re in luck, because this campground is a fast five miles from the dinosaur quarry, where bones are still in the rocks. If you’d rather head out to the river for some rafting, the Split Mountain Boat Ramp is a quick trip away. Oh, and we mustn't forget, there are miles and miles of hiking trails to explore. You won’t want to leave!

The hike by Split Mountain is lovely with amazing views and such silence. The campground has really nice bathrooms and nice sunrise views over the river.

Just the drive to this campground had me pleased with my decision to book here. Located along the Green River with hiking trails starting at the far end of the campground, this was a great location to see as much of the monument as possible in two days. Fossils, petroglyphs, wildlife, and history are all a short walk or drive away. Find a shady spot in the summer heat (keep in mind where the sun will rise and set), stake your tent and lighter camp items tightly - a surprise cloudburst and wind storm on a clear day in July rearranged my camp while I was hiking the nearby Sound of Silence trail.

Site 23, good shade. Sites in B loops seem to have bigger trees for best shade - it gets hot. Sites are pretty roomy, not a busy place. On 4th of July half the campsites were empty. Lots of killer chipmunks so don't leave stuff out. They had a ranger do a show/discussion each night at 7:30pm. Took a bath in the nearby Green River, which is in walking distance, but not that close to sites. Self-serve firewood, $6 a bundle. There's a 2 mile trail to the group campground - boat launch with stunning river views. Boat launch is a good place to play in the water with small kids. Everyone should do Hog Canyon hike - it was awesome. Like nothing I've ever seen before. Also, go to Harper's Corner,
