This beautiful pine cabin is small but lovely. The views are hard to do justice in words. You are situated up high, so as to view the whole valley and plateau. The stars are bright and appear closer, as the area is off grid and far from city lights. The air is soft and fragrant with sage. The wind is delicious on a hot day. You can spy the Grand Wash Cliffs off to the right. You are just 18 miles from the Grand canyon, and the spirit of the Wild West is still felt here. There is a spirituality to the place. Mohave high desert plants abound, including agave, teddy bear cholla, brittle brush, sage, joshua trees and juniper trees. The camp site is 1.25 acres, but not marked with more than a pile of rocks in each corner. please be respectful of the boundary and don't stray more than 10 feet past the big juniper tree off to the east. The cabin boasts three windows, that can be opened for ventilation. There is one brand new mattress and pillow with new linens, a light weight cotton throw and several new cotton towels and hand cloths hanging from butterfly hooks. There is a small table and chairs, and a propane cooker. We also have bowls, plates, glassware and cutlery for two. There are solar lights adorning the cabin at night, and a campfire ring for small discrete camp fires. Please be aware of the heat-there is no water on site, so make sure to stock up on gallons at the Chevron station or in Meadview. The Dollar Store is excellent for necessities. Meadview boasts several excellent places to eat-I prefer the Boathouse. The mornings and evening are cool, but mid-day can be very hot. I would plan activities for the day hours, to avoid sweltering Arizona heat. The Grand canyon is minutes away. the Diamond Bar ranch offers free entertainment and is a trove of historical information. Lake Mead (South Cove) is great for swimming and sight seeing. There are several cute shops in Meadview to shop for locally made wares. Go prospecting or check out a gun range. There are millions of acres of BLM land to explore-just please check a map and make sure you are not on private property. If you see a purple sig, that is the international symbol for private property. Please respect the plant life and do not trample any plants. the Mohave desert is a magical place, and it takes many years to grow back a casually destroyed agave or cholla. This place is very relaxed. We had no issues the little cabin was clean and well equipped with what you need for a short stay! They provide paper plates and plastic forks knives spoons...so if looking to have a proper BBQ you need to bring knives etc. They do provide grilling utensils though. The place is very quiet(mid/late March for us) and dark for some great star gazing :)

Just wanted to mention that this campground does now take reservations through https://reservenevada.com/ I'm not sure when it changed, just be ready and book ahead! I'm lucky I caught the change, almost drove out here and I would've been disappointed to find I could get a spot!

A beautiful campsite that fills up really fast, so make sure to get there early.

Valley of Fire is a hidden gem of the West. While en route to hit all 5 of Utah's NP's last march, we spent a night here at Arch Rock. Just the color and texture of these rocks will blow you away, and setting up your camp site below some incredible rock spirals will be sure to get you antsy to climb and explore them. Pair all of these traits with a lack of crowds and Valley of Fire is an experience you will never forget.

It's hot in summer. Hot ALL NIGHT long. Beautiful spot, but our May visit was too hot for even our rugged outdoorselves.

We were on our way from San Diego to Zion with two awesome kids, an incredibly awesome 9y.o. retriever and a surprisingly awesome 4 week old puppy but despite an early departure on a Monday, traffic got the best of us and it was after 10pm by the time we limped through Vegas.
I had some Plan B's, one of which was the Valley of Fire.
This was the middle of July, so there were not many brave souls out there at that time, but still we crept in as quietly as we could. We took the first available site, but the heat soon led my wife on a walk to see if there were any sites with hookups.
We found one and awoke to a jaw dropping landscape and an immaculate campground. We only stayed long enough for a brief hike, but we WILL be back!

Love the rock formations all around (and in!) this campground. Picnic tables at every site with shade covering. Easy to walk around and scramble up on rocks. We had no problem finding a first-come, first-served site on a Sunday afternoon.

Absolutely love this campground. Drive through for the best spots hidden up in the rock formations. This park is beautiful and there are many places to scramble among the rocks and take some beautiful photos. Nice showers available at the other campground in the park as well.
