Can I camp on the beach in Big Sur?

Beach camping in Big Sur is generally not allowed, as the area is a protected coastline. However, several private Hipcamps and public campgrounds offer bluff-side campsites and easy beach access, such as Andrew Molera State Park and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.
