Primitive camping

Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

Situated on the bank of the Andromache River, setup camp at one of our cozy camp spots and enjoy the quiet of the bush. We have sites available in our grassy paddock which are accessible by all vehicles. Sand camping is available for 4x4's with tent/swag set ups during the dry seasons. No trailers or vans are permitted on the sand due to bogging. Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of a campfire and visual displays of local wildlife, try your hand at fishing in the river or just enjoy a cool swim just a few meters from our grassy sites. Guests are required to be fully self-sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Only a short distance from Airlie Beach and the islands for those interested in the local tourist attractions. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after.

Blackiron Camp Ground

BlackIron was fantastic. We had a prime spot near the river. Cassie was so welcoming to her property. Delivered firewood to our door. The river water was pristine and white sandy beach. 10/10.

Great spot!

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. It was very peaceful with only a few other campers around. We absolutely loved being able to bring our dog. Incredible river system flowing just behind the creek. We went down at dark and saw fresh water eels in there! Will definitely come back here, so close to Mackay but far enough to make it feel like a holiday.

Love Blackiron

Absolutely a magical place to stay. Very well kept and lots of room to move around. The creek is an awesome place to relax and there is fish to be had.

Fantastic location for a camp! The host was great and very welcoming. Great campsite further from the main area if you have a 4WD. Very secluded with the creek right next to the area. Would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Loved the bird the wildlife the water all of it. We stayed down in the pad was so good waking up to the water view. We had the place to ourselves friday night then got a few others come up top for Saturday. Totally enjoyed everything, haven't seam so much in years. 👍
