Alta Ski Area
Ski resort
Alta Ski Area is renowned for its powder skiing, with an average annual snowfall of over 500 inches, providing excellent conditions for a long skiing season that typically runs from mid-November to late April. The terrain at Alta is diverse, offering a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails, but it is particularly celebrated for its challenging off-piste and backcountry areas, which attract expert skiers. While Alta does not have terrain parks, its natural terrain features make for exciting skiing. There are no cross-country trails, night skiing, or snowboarding allowed at Alta, as it remains one of the few skiers-only resorts. The lift system includes two detachable quads, one detachable triple, three doubles, and a surface tow. The views from the resort are spectacular, with the rugged peaks of the Wasatch Range providing a stunning backdrop. Alta is considered family-friendly, with ski school and childcare services available. Other winter activities at Alta include snowshoeing, but there are no ice skating, snow tubing, snowmobiling, or sledding areas within the resort. The focus at Alta is on the skiing experience, which is enhanced by the resort's commitment to preserving the natural beauty and environment of the surrounding mountains.
