Wind Walker Homestead has been a destination resort for decades, but is now family owned and being updated and marketed for groups, couples, families, reunions, weddings, retreats or just a camping weekend away from the hussle of city life. Elk, deer and many other species of wildlife are present at different times. With 170 acres, there is plenty of room to hike, bike and let the kids explore. Utah juniper and Cedar are the species of trees on this high desert landscape at 6000 foot elevation. A newly renovated pool summer 2022 and new bathrooms, showers and laundry room added (in a 14 foot grain silo) by the pool spring 2022. We just added a basketball area and sand volleyball is summer 2022. Pickleball going in summer 2023. 8 new full hookup RV pads also going in summer 2023 and are now available with 30/50 amp service. Far enough away from the lights of surrounding towns of Spring City, Mt. Pleasant and Ephraim, the Milky Way and stars will amaze. Come and visit for a night or a week. We look forward to seeing you soon. - Cindy, Bob, Joe and Natalie

Lazy River Float Camp

1 site · RV1 acre · Scipio, UT
Bring your kayaks, paddle boards, and floaties. This is a private dry camping lot (.59 acres), with Sevier river frontage, and a permanent shade shelter for your use. (There is also a small storage building on site, not for camping use.) Kids (and of course adults) love this place. But the kids go bonkers over it. After they’ve experienced the lazy river once, they beg to come back, and they can’t get out of the car and run to the water fast enough. Dogs are allowed but must stay within the property boundaries (or river). The river is surprisingly slow and shallow. You can get in from the shore at the camp spot, and float around a ~45 minute loop to a common exit point/walking path that takes you back to camp in 2 minutes. Perfect for kicking back for a long float (over and over again if desired). There is one spot around the bend where you can go in over your head, but most of the river is ankle to waist high when the river is at peak height. For a longer float, its also an option to get in at the bridge further down the frontage road. Then float ~2 hours directly back to your camp. The lot can fit 3-4 RVs comfortably, and multiple tents. Generators are fine. Fires are allowed in the metal fire pit. This is a neighborhood of adjacent privately owned dry camping lots. You'll have this .59 acre lot all to yourself (and your guests), but especially on the weekends there are likely to be campers on the neighboring private lots, all there to enjoy the same camping/river/floating experience. Adjacent to this lot there is neighbor who has some tuff sheds for camping, and on the other side, a rustic dry cabin. RV dump is 5 minutes away at Yuba reservoir. Gas/ice/food 13 miles away at Scipio.

The best camping near Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest guide

Overview

About

The Wasatch and Uinta Mountains in north-central Utah cover more than 2,500 square miles. That means plenty of designated wilderness areas to explore. World-class mountain biking and skiing trails compete for your attention. Bring a good pair of hiking boots and walking sticks.

Experienced climbers love scaling the Wellsville Mountains to see the valley spread out below. Enthusiasts claim these narrow mountains are some of the steepest in North America.

Mount Olympus lives up to its name. The peak rises 4,800 feet above the Salt Lake Valley for impressive views. The Uintas Mountains frame several rocky canyons for a desert-like vibe. Bring plenty of water in summer.

Several campgrounds offer a wide range of services. It's a 2.1 million-acre wilderness, after all. Backpackers should be aware of bears in the area and stash their cache of food accordingly.
