Weekend Trip to Limestone Bluffs

I loved this site! The Bluffs sign at the driveway made it easy to find. It was private with still being close enough to the wood and bathroom! The platform for the tent was way handier than we could have imagined, made sure everything was level and extra table space. Easy to find our site and host made sure ahead of time to ask if we needed anything and had all the info we needed as well. We took a walk to look at all the other sites, well taken care of, each site was clearly labeled, and separated enough to have privacy at each site. One morning we were greeted by the landowner’s dog, which was a pleasant treat! A perfect spot that was a 30 minute drive from the Mothman Museum/Festival and a 15 minute drive from the Lake Katherine Nature Preserve that has tons of beautiful hiking . 10/10 :)

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres

What a lovely spot for a weekend getaway! It was perfect for enjoying the outdoors but still having the comforts of a comfy bed, ceiling fan, mini fridge, etc. The cabin and especially the kitchen were really well stocked, and we enjoyed using the outdoor shower and checking out the trails on the property. Kate and Austin were really welcoming but we had a lot of privacy as well. We would definitely stay again for our next trip to the Hocking Hills area!

I loved staying in the converted old school bus, very nostalgic. It was close to Hocking Hills State park and many other parks that I wish I had time to check out. The site itself - wow - you can stargaze, walk trails created by the hosts, have a cozy campfire, and even take a class. Kate and Austin are wonderful hosts and very passionate about using the land appropriately and getting others involved. The bus had everything you need. The propane shower is wonderful! The only thing that made me sad was that their solar was broke so the lights and fridge didn’t work (I had my own lights and a way to keep cold stuff cold). The local towns should be checked out as well.

This was such a lovely trip! Between the sounds of nature, a nice fire at night, and some fishing and hiking during the day, this trip was everything that I hoped for! Beth was a lovely host, and helped me bring my stuff to and from the campsite. I'm already considering going back in the future, because I know it'll be just as peaceful and relaxing as it was this trip too!

Salt creek is an excellent basecamp when visiting Athens, OU, Bailey’s, etc. Ed offers three RV or tent sites that each have a 30A RV shore power connection and water. The water pressure is excellent, but the well water in use is very hard and smells slightly metallic. Double filtering the water wasn’t sufficient to help with the taste, but otherwise it was awesome taking long showers after a day of MTB riding. The sites are adjacent to state route 13, so traffic noise during the day is a thing, but it’s not obnoxious. At night it’s quiet. He is close enough to Athens for easy reach by DoorDash. T-Mobile cellular service was excellent.

Staying at the Hickory Hut was the perfect weekend getaway! Pulling into the driveway you're greeted by prairies on both sides filled with wildflowers, parking is right next to the cabin, the outdoor shower was one of my highlights, to take a hot shower with sunflowers growing up and over the walls of the shower was such a great experience! You don't get much more into nature than at this site. We loved how close all the hiking trails. We will definitely be back again!

Albert Hoffman once said, "…the feeling of co-creatureliness with all things alive should enter our consciousness more fully and counterbalance the materialistic and nonsensical technological developments in order to enable us to return to the roses, to the flowers, to nature, where we belong." This is the most apt summary / reflection I have of my experience at Woody Acres. As for practical topics: The location was easy to find using my phone's navigation. My phone had reception the entire time I was there. The Bus is cozy without being cramped, I had plenty of space to hang out inside. The most unexpected joy I had was using the outdoor shower- the sky was clear, the sun shining, and bumblebees were zipping around the sunflowers. (Also the propane water heater works VERY well, which was a welcomed creature comfort on the chilly mornings) Kate and Austin are very friendly and hospitable. Their cat is adorable! They have built a beautiful property and I am so grateful they have opened it to others in this way. I am already looking forward to the next time I can visit.

We had a fantastic visit to Williams cabin and land! My dog had plenty of woods to explore and my fiancé and I had the peace and serenity we were looking for. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet of camping on Beth and Brian’s land. They were very accommodating to me (a motorcycle camper). I purchased firewood from them and it was there when I arrived. Will definitely camp here again and will shoot a video for my YouTube channel. A very nice experience that I highly recommend. But a word of caution, if you are intending to ride your motorcycle to the campsite, it better be an off-road or adventure bike. Otherwise it is best to park in the provided parking area.

Weekend Trip to Salt Creek Camp at Sunnyvale Farm

Ed was welcoming and kind and met us on arrival. The location was close to the Bailey's trail system, Stroud's Run State Park, and Hocking Hills. We tried and enjoyed the "Eclipse Company Store" for food and beer. We were permitted to spread out a bit as we were the only reservation our weekend, which was great. Some tips for future travelers: If you need wifi password or toilet, make sure to ask when you get there or in advance. The map looks like site #3 is set back off the road further than the other two sites, but they are all equally close to the road. There is shade at site #3 in the morning, and heavy direct sun in the evening, but we had a pop up tent with a sidewall that offered plenty of shade for us. Overall, Salt Creek is a great option for RV campers. His pull through lot, electricity, and water are rare among HipCamp locations. The location is not secluded/remote, as described in the listing, but it is convenient to the area's many tourist attractions in an area that is often sold out of campsites. We loved camping here soo much we will be coming back in the near future! If you are looking for a primitive camp site this is definitely the place to go. The camp sites are very large and spread out to give you plenty of privacy. It was nice to have the option to buy firewood on site as well as borrow supplies such as grill grates, shovel and table. We liked being close enough to Hocking Hills State Park, but far enough away that you were not bombarded with people. The sites are so large you could bring friends or family and have plenty of room for everyone!

Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike to the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.
