Frontier Villages: A Gateway to Adventure and Natural Wonders.
The Frontier Villages are a throwback to the frontier days. Once upon a time, North Dakota was dotted with villages, and this historical park has become the new home for many of them. Original structures were moved out here, and they’re chock full of fascinating artifacts that give you a glimpse into the life of a prairie pioneer. There’s even stagecoach and pony rides Memorial Day through Labor Day! And, lest we forget… Wild West Shootouts every other Saturday during the summer. Score some nearby camping at the Frontier Fort Campground, en route to the village (and the world’s largest buffalo monument, a Jamestown favorite).
The ideal time to visit Frontier Villages is during the spring and fall months, when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak. Summer brings warmth and longer days, perfect for extended exploration, but be prepared for larger crowds. Winters can be harsh, so plan accordingly if you venture during this season.
