Discover Voorhees State Park's natural beauty and outdoor activities.
Tired of those starless city nights? Make the trip to Voorhees State Park, home to of the largest privately-owned observatories in the state. Members of the New Jersey Astronomical Association are happy to offer year-round stargazing sessions for those who aren’t sure if what they’re looking at is a planet or a UFO. Beyond celestial exploration, there are over a thousand acres to hike or bike. When you’re ready, take a load off at one of the many shelters sprinkled throughout this park, or eat that lunch you packed at one of two overlooks with views of the Round Valley and Spruce Run Reservoirs that’ll make you drool all over your picnic. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
The ideal time to visit Voorhees State Park is during the spring and fall, when the weather is mild and the park's flora is in full bloom or beautifully changing colors. Summer offers longer days for exploration, though it can be quite warm. Winters are less crowded but prepare for chilly conditions.
